Position Overview:
The Garde Manger is responsible for preparing cold dishes, such as salads, appetizers, and desserts. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has an eye for detail, and is passionate about creating visually appealing and flavorful dishes.
Key Responsibilities:
Cold Food Preparation:
- Prepare cold dishes, including salads, appetizers, pâtés, terrines, and cold sauces, according to the menu and recipes.
- Ensure food is presented in an attractive and appetizing manner.
- Plate dishes with precision and attention to detail.
Food Safety:
- Follow proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure freshness and safety.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cold storage and prep stations.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor the supply of ingredients for cold dishes and inform the kitchen manager of any shortages.
- Properly label and store cold food items to maintain freshness.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of cold dishes.
- Assist with kitchen prep work and other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Garde Manger or in a similar role is required.
- Strong understanding of cold food preparation techniques and presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
