What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for sports-savvy writers who live and breathe headlines, highlights, and hot takes. You don’t just follow the scores—you follow the stories. You track trends, react fast, and understand how athletes have become cultural celebrities.

This is a remote freelance or hourly role, open to both part-time and full-time contributors depending on region.

Sports We Need Help Covering

  • NFL/College Football (NCAA)
  • NBA / WNBA
  • MLB

Vertical Focus

This vertical will cover general sports and athletes, with an emphasis on:

  • Timely, trend-driven news
  • Celebrity-style reporting on athletes
  • Short-form sports stories with viral potential
  • Stories that live at the intersection of sports, culture, and social media

What You’ll Do

  • Write trending news and short-form stories (400–800 words)
  • Track emerging storylines across sports, athlete culture, and social media
  • Submit clean, publish-ready copy on deadline
  • Pitch original headlines or story concepts depending on your skill set
  • Collaborate with editors to ensure content quality and discoverability

We’re Looking for Writers Who

  • Have a strong pulse on one or more major sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, etc.)
  • Are experienced in news writing and understand what makes a story clickable
  • Can write multiple stories per week in a fast-paced, trend-focused environment
  • Are fluent in English with excellent grammar
  • Bonus: Familiarity with SEO, WordPress, Trello, and Google Trends
  • Can provide 1–3 relevant writing samples in the sports or celebrity news space

Pay Expectations

  • U.S. writers: Paid freelance rates
  • International writers: Hired on an hourly contract (part-time or full-time)
  • All roles have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position
