Our mission

Boom is on a mission to level the playing field for the 110+ million renters in the US by making housing more flexible, affordable, and rewarding. Boom is building a suite of rental financial services for renters and property managers, including tenant screening, rent payment reporting, rent reporting-as-a-service, and a number of integrations with the largest property management systems (PMS). Boom serves renters through the Boom App and property managers via the Boom Platform. Now serving thousands of renters, Boom is led by second-time founder Rob Whiting (ex-BCG, Rubicon). It's backed by investors such as Starting Line, Clocktower Ventures, Gilgamesh Ventures (Petal co-founders), and angels such as William Hockey and Zach Perret (Co-founders of Plaid) and Harry Stebbings. Boom has been profiled by Inman, Business Insider, HousingWire, and more.

Opportunity

Boom is looking for a GTM Lead to work across the business at the intersection of sales, marketing, customer success, product, and operations. This is a high-ownership, generalist role built for someone who thrives on context-switching - one week you might be opening sales into a new distribution channel, the next you're onboarding a flagship client and writing the playbook for how Boom does it at scale.

As Boom expands into new verticals and markets, we need someone who can move fast, think structurally, and pick up whatever is highest-priority - even if it hasn't been done before. You'll work directly with the CEO, Director of GTM and other leadership team members on critical-path initiatives where there is no existing process. You'll be the one to run the play first, then build it out so the rest of the team can follow.

This role is ideal for someone coming out of a top consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or equivalent) who has realized they want to build things, not just advise. You're analytically sharp, energized by variety, and comfortable doing hands-on work alongside strategic thinking. You don't need a defined lane—you create one.

Who is a good fit: former MBB consultants or high-ownership operators who thrive on variety; analytically strong with a bias toward output; excited to do work at every level from strategic framing to executing in the field; comfortable writing their own content and building process from scratch.

Who is not a good fit: people who need a well-defined role or single-function ownership; those uncomfortable with ambiguity; those who prefer advising over doing.

What You'll Do

  • New verticals & markets: Partner with the CEO and functional leads to evaluate, enter, and scale new verticals and geographic markets—from initial sizing and hypothesis-testing through early sales and operations execution

  • Critical path client onboarding: Own onboarding for flagship and complex clients where Boom's processes are still being defined. You run it first, then build the repeatable playbook so the team can scale it

  • Cross-functional GTM support: Embed with product, marketing, customer success, and operations to drive high-priority GTM initiatives—acting on connector, problem-solver, and executor across functions

  • New channel sales: Lead early-stage sales efforts into new distribution channels, partnerships, or buyer segments where no prior motion exists; test, learn, and iterate quickly

  • Special projects: Take on high-priority, high-ambiguity projects that don't fit neatly into any existing function—if it's important and undefined, this role likely owns it

  • Content and process creation: Translate field experience into structured assets—onboarding guides, playbooks, competitive frameworks, internal SOPs—so knowledge doesn't live only in your head

  • Analytics and reporting: Use data to assess what's working, surface insights, and support strategic decisions across GTM and operations

What You'll Need

  • 3–5+ years of experience at a top management consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or equivalent) and/or in a high-ownership GTM, strategy, or operations role at a fast-growing startup

  • Proven ability to juggle multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously without dropping the ball

  • Willingness and ability to do hands-on work at all levels - direct sales, writing onboarding documentation, building internal processes - not just advise or coordinate

  • Strong analytical skills: comfortable building frameworks, pulling insights from data, and making structured recommendations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including ability to write great slides; able to translate complex situations into clear, actionable plans for internal/external audiences

  • High comfort with ambiguity and a genuine enthusiasm for environments where the playbook doesn't yet exist

  • Experience or exposure to B2B SaaS, proptech, fintech, or related industries is a plus but not required
