ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE

Firefly Aerospace is a space and defense technology company on a mission to reliably and repeatedly launch, land, and operate space systems from Earth to the Moon and beyond. As the partner of choice for critical space missions, Firefly is the first commercial company to launch a satellite to orbit with 24-hour notice and the first company to achieve a successful Moon landing. Headquartered in north Austin, Texas, Firefly is looking for passionate, hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space.

SUMMARY

Firefly Aerospace is pushing the boundaries of space access with rapid launches and lunar missions. We're looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer who loves getting deep into circuit design including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, simulations, and rapid prototyping. If you're a tinkerer who thrives in fast-paced development cycles, enjoys troubleshooting to root cause, and want to see your boards fly on launch vehicles and spacecraft, this is your role! You'll own designs for our common avionics platform used across vehicles, working in a collaborative, high-velocity environment in Cedar Park, TX

What You’ll Do:

  • Own end-to-end circuit card development: schematic capture and layout for complex digital/analog/power designs, EEE component selection, electrical simulations, and rapid prototyping for flight, qualification.
  • Develop new features and functionality as part of the design team for our common avionics platform used across launch vehicles and spacecraft applications.
  • Perform technical trade studies, requirement capture, conceptual and detail design activities for new and existing designs.
  • Work with experts across teams and departments (systems, mechanical, software, test engineering) to develop tightly integrated, high-performance hardware.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis using standard test equipment, driving issues to closure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Understand and implement aerospace guidelines for development and design of electronic assemblies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of hands -on PCB design, hardware development, and integration experience.
  • Strong skills in schematic capture and layout for digital, analog, and power circuits; proficiency with Altium (or similar) preferred.
  • Competent at end-to-end definition, requirement generation, block-diagram design, component selection and circuit simulations.
  • Experience with component selection, circuit simulation/analysis, and electrical troubleshooting/root-cause.
  • Experienced using test equipment to verify component and circuit functionality.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and experience working with vendors
  • Ability to work well with others, be proactive, and execute with minimal guidance

Firefly offers outstanding benefits for our employees, including generous health, dental and vision plans with low plan deductibles, parental leave, educational reimbursement, short term disability, and flexible PTO options.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
