What you’ll achieve

As a Hardware Engineer, you’ll deliver enterprise class hardware, made up of a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, to dozens of product lines and thousands of customers. You’ll be exposed to all aspects of hardware and systems engineering working closely with firmware, mechanical, power and thermal engineers. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with a team of highly skilled engineers providing both support and guidance. It is a team fueled by collaboration and a company deeply committed to integrity and responsibility.

You will:

  • Provide technical leadership to a project team developing cutting edge server and storage solutions, including AI servers used for training the leading AI models

  • Be responsible for delivering a project architecture and concept for servers and storage, which will then be handed over to a development team as well as work with Product Management and Marketing to fine-tune requirements

  • Work on feasibility studies, defining architecture, SI constraints, electronic computer-aided design (ECAD) and mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) guidance and documenting key risks

  • Author and coordinate the creation of concept specifications and design guides  

  • Possess excellent communication skills for requirements discussions as well as provide technology updates to multiple Dell EMC product groups and development teams

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong background in electrical or computer engineering and an understanding of server architecture

  • Experience in hardware design, analysis and debug of complex printed circuit boards (PCBAs) along with an understanding of the power, mechanical and thermal constraints.

  • Must have experience designing PCBAs utilizing PCIe Gen 4 or higher technology (or equivalent high speed serial design experience)

  • Exposure to working with global teams including Original Design Manufacturer (ODM)/Joint Design Manufacturer (JDM) partners

  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams

Desirable Requirements:

  • Typically requires 5 to 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience

  • Experience using simulation to design PCBAs

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $124,000.00 – $186,000.00
