DX is the leading developer intelligence platform, recently acquired by Atlassian , helping companies quantify and improve developer experience. As Head of Engineering, you'll report directly to the DX CEO/Co-Founder (who has led engineering since DX's founding) and oversee a multi-team organization.

Zone B: $216,000 - $282,000
Zone C: $198,900 - $259,675 (Salt Lake City zone)
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

This role requires you to be located in the Salt Lake City area for proximity to DX's office.
In this role, you will:
- Own day-to-day engineering execution for DX, the developer intelligence platform helps enterprise leaders understand developer productivity, quality, and speed across the SDLC.
- Lead, grow, and support an organization of managers and senior ICs delivering data pipelines, metrics engines, and AI-powered analytics and dashboards.
- Work directly with enterprise customers and internal design partners to validate hypotheses and inform what you build next.
- Establish core engineering rituals (planning, reviews, on-call, incident management) suited to a fast-moving, high-ambiguity environment.
- Partner with Product and Design on a roadmap that balances near-term value with long-term platform and data investments.
Your background:
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (Director/Head/VP level), ideally in SaaS startups.
- Served as the senior-most engineering leader (or one of a very small number) at a Series A/B or equivalent high-growth stage, including building teams from a small base. Ideally in developer tools, analytics, or AI-driven products.
- Comfortable operating from 0-1 in high ambiguity: defining direction with limited precedent, iterating quickly, and adjusting based on customer and business signals.
- Proven track record of leading distributed engineering organizations (40+ engineers) through periods of growth and transformation.
- Demonstrated ability to set technical vision, drive execution, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, executive presence, experience interfacing with customers, and stakeholder management.
