About IBBX:
IBBX Wireless Energy is at the forefront of developing breakthrough technology that delivers wireless electricity. The company has created and patented protocols that allow energy harvesting from electromagnetic waves; IBBX also produces an integrated circuit that executes such harvesting. It is the first real step into eliminating cables and vastly reducing battery sizes in electronic devices.

With a current team of 70 dedicated professionals, IBBX is in a phase of rapid growth, experiencing significant year-over-year expansion. Our culture is grounded in values of efficiency, respect, and diversity, and we are on a mission to attract, develop, and retain world-class talent aligned with our vision of creating impactful and world-changing innovations.

The first adopters of our technology are industries that rely on predictive maintenance of their production parks.

Our first product is the IBBX Retina Suite for industry 4.0, a set of sensors that feed from the machine’s (wasted) electromagnetic energy, and they just work – no cable, no battery replacement. They also happen to speak a proprietary wireless data protocol that is optimized for long distances, ideal for large industrial and agricultural environments. It may seem a bit too techie, we know, but all this is to explain why our Retina Suite has a line of clients waiting to acquire it, an example of how successful we can be in the near future.

Role Overview:

As the Head of Hardware Engineering at IBBX, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of innovative Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, with a focus on communication protocols like LoRaWAN and proprietary Sub-GigaHertz technologies. This role requires strategic technical leadership, with expertise in embedded systems, connected devices, and projects that demand high reliability and energy efficiency in large-scale environments with remote connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:Hardware Development and Embedded Systems:
  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of IoT hardware, including PCB design, component selection, and firmware development.

  • Design robust and reliable connected devices, ensuring support for protocols like LoRaWAN and proprietary Sub-GigaHertz technologies.

  • Work on the integration of embedded systems with different IoT platforms, ensuring interoperability and efficiency.

Communication Protocols and LPWAN Networks:
  • Develop and implement solutions based on long-range, low-power communication protocols such as LoRaWAN, for use in industrial and commercial LPWAN networks.

  • Analyze, validate, and optimize the performance of IoT networks in remote connectivity and large-scale scenarios.

  • Ensure device compatibility with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Leadership and Technical Team Management:
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams in hardware and firmware development.

  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous delivery aligned with IBBX’s strategic goals.

  • Provide technical support and strategic direction for critical IoT hardware projects.

Low Power Solutions:
  • Develop energy-efficient systems essential for IoT networks operating in low power and long-distance conditions.

  • Ensure the robustness and reliability of developed solutions, meeting the demands of industrial and commercial applications.

Qualifications:
  • Experience in leading and managing high-performance technical teams.

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and modern engineering practices.

  • Solid experience in hardware engineering, with a focus on IoT systems, PCB design, and firmware development.

  • Strong knowledge of long-range communication protocols like LoRaWAN and Sub-Giga technologies.

  • Experience in developing devices for LPWAN networks, including optimizing power consumption.

Why Join IBBX?

At IBBX, we are developing wireless electricity and circuits that use this technology. This groundbreaking tech should already be a cool reason, but we also happen to be a awesome place to work, with colleagues that are technically deep and intellectually honest, plus a culture that praises results and mutual respect.
