Position Summary

Scientific Games is seeking a senior leader to accelerate software engineering across a global organization by improving developer workflows, engineering systems, and AI-enabled development practices. This role focuses on removing friction across the software delivery lifecycle including tooling, testing, code reviews, documentation, repository guidance, and team collaboration to help engineers build faster and more effectively.

The ideal candidate can move between strategy and execution, identify bottlenecks, and drive scalable improvements across teams. They will build a small, high-impact team and lead SG’s approach to engineering acceleration, leveraging AI where it adds value while creating reusable systems, best practices, and measurable gains in productivity.

Qualifications

Background That Fits

This role likely fits someone with deep experience across engineering systems, DevX, platform engineering, developer productivity, or internal tooling, with strong working knowledge of modern AI development tools and agentic workflows.

A good candidate may come from a few different paths. They may have led a developer productivity or platform team in a large engineering organization. They may have built internal developer tooling and later grown into broader engineering systems leadership. They may come from a strong software engineering background and have spent the last few years helping teams use AI tools in a structured, practical way.

The role needs strong engineering credibility, good judgment, and clear writing. It also needs someone who can tell the difference between activity and progress.

Experience That Would Help

  • Broad experience in software engineering, platform, DevX, or engineering systems work

  • Experience leading cross-functional technical efforts across a large engineering organization

  • Good feel for SDLC bottlenecks, testing maturity, CI/CD, review flow, and repo health

  • Familiarity with AI coding tools, agentic coding patterns, repo-aware guidance, and evaluation methods

  • Evidence of building shared systems or patterns that other engineers actually adopted

  • Comfort working in a polyglot environment with different languages, repos, and local processes

Experience That Fits

  • 12+ years of experience across software engineering, product engineering, platform engineering, or technical product development

  • 5+ years leading efforts to help development teams build faster, with higher quality, and more joy

  • Proven track record of building and delivering mechanisms that understand bottlenecks builders face and solve for them

  • Experience operating effectively within large, complex systems, including legacy platforms

  • Automating testing across unit, integration, contract, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing

Work Conditions

Scientific Games, LLC and its affiliates (collectively, “SG”) are engaged in highly regulated gaming and lottery businesses.   As a result, certain SG employees may, among other things, be required to obtain a gaming or other license(s), undergo background investigations or security checks, or meet certain standards dictated by law, regulation or contracts.   In order to ensure SG complies with its regulatory and contractual commitments, as a condition to hiring and continuing to employ its employees, SG requires all of its employees to meet those requirements that are necessary to fulfill their individual roles.  As a prerequisite to employment with SG (to the extent permitted by law), you shall be asked to consent to SG conducting a due diligence/background investigation on you.
This job description should not be interpreted as all-inclusive; it is intended to identify major responsibilities and requirements of the job. The employee in this position may be requested to perform other job-related tasks and responsibilities than those stated above.
