Kit is an email-first operating system for creators who mean business. We help creators grow and monetize their audience with ease. For coaches, YouTubers, authors, podcasters, and other creatives, there isn't a better marketing hub to rely on to grow audiences, automate email marketing, and sell digital products — all within one platform.
More importantly, there isn't a team more committed to helping creators earn a living. We're on a mission to help creators earn $1 billion using our creator marketing platform. We have always been 100% independent and 100% remote.
We are proud to have built a product that our customers love, and we look for people who have enthusiasm and belief in our mission, vision, and values to join our team. We're also embracing AI thoughtfully — both in how we build and how we hire to ensure our team is adaptable, innovative, and ready for what's next.
We're looking for an HR Generalist (contract position, 5 to 10 hours per week) to support Kit's People Operations team with administrative HR tasks and project management. You'll handle operational functions that keep our team running smoothly—from managing benefit filings and unemployment claims to coordinating employee equipment and offboarding logistics.
This is a behind-the-scenes role for someone who thrives on organization, attention to detail, and keeping processes running without friction. You'll work closely with our Head of People Operations to ensure we're continuing to level-up our People Operations organizational maturity — we want to move from 80% to 88% on our maturity assessment in 2026.
This role is perfect for an experienced Senior People Operations Manager or HR Consultant who wants flexible, contract work and enjoys the operational side of people operations—making sure every detail is handled correctly and every deadline is met.
Your support system
Your engagement manager will be Melissa Theiss (Head of People Operations). You'll work with our broader Operations team, including our Senior Recruiter, Emily, as well as our Finance and Legal teams as needed. You'll also engage directly with Kit team members and contractors to troubleshoot issues one-on-one.
What you'll do
First Week: Get oriented to Kit's HR systems and processes. Gain access to Justworks (our PEO), Deel (our contractor management platform), Lattice, Notion, and other apps that power our day-to-day work. Meet with the Head of People Operations team to understand current workflows, ongoing projects, and immediate priorities.
First Month: Take ownership of your first recurring administrative tasks, including 401k compliance filings and invitations, unemployment insurance claims, scheduling stay interviews with the People team, and ensuring that departing employees have app access removed. Assist with our global deployment of company-provided laptops and enrollment in mobile device management (MDM) plus Apple Business Manager (ABM). Close out final Plane to Deel contractor migration platform tasks.
First Six Months: Establish yourself as the reliable go-to person for HR administrative and programmatic operations (e.g., setup engagement survey in Lattice using SOP). Streamline at least one administrative process to make it more efficient or better documented. Successfully manage 2-3 small to medium-sized HR projects from kickoff to completion.
Skills
Proactive problem-solving: Ability to anticipate needs, troubleshoot issues independently, and escalate appropriately when needed
Clear communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to coordinate effectively across teams and with external vendors
Process management: Ability to follow established procedures precisely while identifying opportunities for improvement
Project coordination: Strong project management skills with ability to drive small to medium-sized initiatives to completion
Tech-savvy: Comfortable learning new systems quickly and managing app access, equipment procurement, and digital onboarding/offboarding workflows
AI-forward: Ability to use a company-provided Claude and/or ChatGPT account to access custom GPTs/Projects, speed up your own workflows, and design new workflows as needed
Experiences
5-8 years in HR operations or administration, with hands-on experience managing HR programs, HR systems, benefits administration, and administrative tasks

Compensation and term:
This is a 6-month contract role for 5-10 hours per week paying $60 to 80 per hour, depending on experience. There will be the possibility to renew for successive 3-6 month engagements, subject to business need.

All work can be completed remotely with no travel requirements.
Deliverable timeline expectations:
Deliverables follow established compliance schedules and business needs. The contractor will manage their own schedule to meet agreed-upon deadlines for recurring tasks (such as benefit filings) and project milestones.
We know that most people hate interviewing (we relate!). We aim to make it as good of an experience as we can, and part of that includes keeping you informed during the process.
Here's what you can expect from the process:
Initial interview with our Senior Recruiter, Emily Paik
Second interview with our Head of People Operations, Melissa Theiss
Reference check (or testimonials) from previous clients or manager(s)
