What you'll do

We are a fast-growing company with over 1,300 employees in offices all around the world. That may mean deepening their current skill set or learning something entirely new. We are looking for a Head of Learning and Development to lead our global, professional development efforts. This position reports to the Head of People, and is a critical member of the People Team leadership team.

The Head of Learning and Development will set the strategy for onboarding, development and retention at Cloudflare. This includes assessing current needs, creating engaging and highly relevant programs, leading engagement surveys and other feedback loops as well as measuring outcomes to objectively assess our efforts and effectively iterate. 

We are looking for a leader who will oversee a small but mighty team of learning professionals who are focused on onboarding, individual and management development, community and belonging. These initiatives span every level, all roles and all our geographies. Because of this, everything we do needs to scale, and we come at things with a global-first mindset. We have built the foundation but there is still a lot of work to do. There is still a lot of room for creation and innovation.

This role will partner closely with company leadership and People Team Business Partners to ensure our talent development efforts are correctly prioritized and produce the right results. This does not happen in a silo or a vacuum but is informed by your understanding of our team members across all levels of the organization to ensure our programs are responsive to their needs for today and the future.

Who You Are

You are a seasoned L&D leader who has led diverse teams, ideally in a high growth, global environment. You balance the academic side of learning with a high business acumen to drive results. You understand technical environments, and ideally have experience working with virtual/remote orgs or teams. You are motivated to help individuals realize their potential, create highly productive teams and build effective organizations. You understand how to align development offerings with company culture and our employee’s cultures so programs address specific needs and resonate deeply. You are able to measure the effectiveness of each offering and the overall program overall.

You are a pragmatic leader who can toggle between high level strategy and rolling up your sleeves to get work done. Your experience owning a learning budget has helped you develop a good sense of what you build in-house and what you buy off the shelf. You get excited about feedback loops and learning cultures, and have a number of innovative ideas in those areas. 

Your communication skills are world-class and can pivot your message to appeal to different audiences (from sales org to the deeply technical). You have a bias for on-the-job learning, yet you also use classroom instruction and online programs in compelling ways. 

Your high business acumen drives your approach to development and makes you an effective, consultative partner to business leaders and across the People Team. You like data.
