The Opportunity: Bringing Automation From Design to Reality
We are looking for a hands-on, technically versatile Implementation Engineer to design, build, and deploy custom automation solutions for manufacturers. This role sits at the intersection of engineering design, systems integration, and on-site execution.
As an Implementation Engineer, you will own customer automation solutions end-to-end: translating requirements into full engineering designs, configuring and integrating robotic systems, and leading on-site installation and commissioning. Your impact will be measured by systems that work reliably on factory floors and deliver real productivity gains for our customers.
What You'll Do
Automation System Design & Engineering: Develop full engineering designs for custom automation systems, including robot layouts, tooling concepts, safety considerations, and system integration plans.
Translate Requirements Into Reality: Work closely with customers, applications engineers, and internal teams to turn manufacturing requirements into robust, deployable automation solutions.
System Integration: Specify and integrate robots, end-of-arm tooling, sensors, conveyors, safety systems, and software into cohesive automation cells.
On-Site Implementation & Deployment: Lead or directly execute on-site installation, commissioning, and validation of automation systems at customer facilities.
Debug in the Real World: Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues during deployment, rapidly identifying root causes and implementing fixes under real-world constraints.
Customer-Facing Execution: Serve as a technical point of contact during installs, working hands-on with customer teams to ensure smooth deployment and knowledge transfer.
Continuous Improvement & Feedback Loop: Document system designs, installation procedures, and lessons learned to improve repeatability and scalability across deployments.
Design for Manufacturability: Provide feedback to product, hardware, and software teams to improve standardization, reliability, and ease of installation across Standard Bots solutions.
Field-Informed Engineering: Bring insights from the factory floor back into system design, helping evolve our automation offerings based on real customer usage.
Who You Are
5+ years of experience in automation engineering, robotics, systems integration, or industrial engineering, with direct exposure to deploying systems in production environments.
Automation & Robotics Fundamentals: Hands-on experience with industrial robots, automation cells, or complex electromechanical systems. Familiarity with safety standards and manufacturing environments is a strong plus.
Systems Thinking: Ability to design complete automation solutions that balance performance, reliability, safety, cost, and ease of deployment.
On-Site Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, with the ability to remain effective in fast-paced, customer-facing environments.
Clear Communication: Comfort working directly with customers, operators, and internal teams, clearly explaining technical concepts and installation decisions.
Adaptability & Ownership: A self-driven mindset with the ability to take ownership of projects from early design through on-site execution and handoff.
Compensation and Financial Benefits
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $130,000, depending on experience. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
