The Manager of Network Security is accountable for developing and executing on our network security program which includes securing our endpoints and locations.

Location: This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid for associates in Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build and manage a diverse and impactful team, through recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, developing, and rewarding team members.
  • Manage a team that provides operational support of network security systems inclusive of after-hours on-call support.
  • Develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for the network security program.
  • Accountability for various Network Security technologies including Firewalls, IDS, IPS, URL filtering, and VPN
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and support of network security solutions for Ferguson branches, data centers and end points.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and operational teams to optimize processes and procedures and support our network.
  • Lead major projects in the network security area.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
  • Manage the department budget and negotiate vendor contracts.
  • Actively monitor new and emerging technologies, trends, issues, and solutions and assess their applicability to Ferguson’s Network Security capabilities.
  • Give requirements to technology selection process.
  • Partner with architecture teams, to contribute to blueprints and roadmaps that ensure that our network meets all business requirements and anticipates future needs, in a cost-effective manner.
  • Partner with delivery and operational teams to ensure that all new network security deployments include appropriate support and run-book documentation. Ensure that team members are fully trained to take responsibility for monitoring, ongoing support, routine engineering, and operation of new network security technologies.
  • Adhering to all policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Performing other duties or functions as requested by management.
Business accountabilities:
  • Associate and Operational Management: Manages a team of up to 6 associates.
  • Budget Oversight: Responsible for the Network Security budget and vendor contracts.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • This individual will provide domain expertise and oversight and effective challenges of key cybersecurity domains such as network security, perimeter defense, and security architecture.
  • At least 10 years of experience implementing network defenses: firewalls, network access control, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, web application firewalls, web gateways, or proxies.
  • Experienced implementing Zero Trust or Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) network security architecture.
  • At least 5 years of experience implementing cloud network security.
  • Professional certifications preferred (Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Networking, CISSP).
Technical and Professional Skills:

Associate is expected to operate at the functional level across the following areas of technical knowledge and skill:

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to groups.
  • Ability to efficiently operate computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Visio, etc.).
  • Knowledge of project/task management systems preferred. (ServiceNow, SharePoint, Project)
  • Ability to interpret site surveys and drawings to identify project requirements preferred.
  • Experience with voice, data, and wireless technologies preferred.
  • Poise and maturity to interact at all levels of the organization as well as third-party contractors.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$9,700.00 - $15,516.67

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
