Company Description

TechSmart is a pioneering AI software and workforce development company transforming the public K–12 school system into a launchpad for future-ready talent. We partner with school districts across the country providing AI and Software Development curriculum, teacher training, and a platform which prepares students for both entry-level jobs requiring strong AI skills and positions in emerging high-demand tech fields.

AI is transforming industries at an unprecedented pace, reshaping how we learn, work, and engage with technology. As AI continues to drive innovation and job growth across the nation, we are seeing the early stages of significant AI adoption among school districts nationwide.

To support this transformation, we are expanding our partnerships with districts nationwide — ensuring that every school and teacher has the tools, training, and guidance to implement AI and computer science programs with confidence and lasting success.

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated, organized, and highly collaborative Inside Sales Specialist to help expand TechSmart’s partnerships with public school districts nationwide.

The primary focus of this role is generating and advancing new-business opportunities through strategic district outreach, meeting development, pipeline management, and close collaboration with TechSmart’s sales team. You will research prospective districts, engage school and district leaders, coordinate sales activity, and help move opportunities from initial outreach through proposal development and contracting.

This is a consultative sales role for someone who is eager to develop deep expertise in AI education, workforce development, and the K–12 market. You will work closely with experienced sales team members to understand district priorities, identify strong-fit opportunities, and communicate how TechSmart can help schools prepare students for an AI-driven economy.

As you build product knowledge, market expertise, and sales experience, you will also begin taking ownership of selected renewal and expansion opportunities with existing district partners. This progression provides a pathway to develop full-cycle sales experience and grow into more senior responsibilities within the team.

This role is ideal for someone who combines persistence and strong execution with curiosity, judgment, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in helping schools expand access to future-ready learning opportunities.

Key ResponsibilitiesDistrict Outreach & Pipeline Development
  • Research prospective school districts, education leaders, funding opportunities, and market developments to identify strong-fit sales opportunities.
  • Execute strategic outbound outreach through phone, email, virtual meetings, and other channels to engage district administrators, CTE leaders, curriculum leaders, and other decision-makers.
  • Generate qualified meetings and new-business opportunities for TechSmart’s outside sales team.
  • Develop personalized outreach strategies informed by district priorities, workforce needs, existing programs, available funding, and potential implementation opportunities.
Opportunity & Sales Process Management
  • Manage assigned prospects and early-stage opportunities, maintaining consistent follow-through, clear next steps, and an organized pipeline.
  • Partner with outside sales team members to research district needs, prepare for meetings and presentations, coordinate follow-up, and advance opportunities through the sales process.
  • Coordinate proposals, agreements, and other sales documentation while maintaining accurate opportunity records and activity updates in Salesforce.
  • Contribute to pipeline reviews and forecasting by providing timely, accurate updates and proactively identifying opportunities requiring additional engagement or support.
Renewal, Expansion & Sales Growth
  • Support selected renewal and expansion opportunities by researching district needs, coordinating outreach and meetings, and assisting with proposals and follow-up.
  • As product knowledge and sales capabilities develop, progressively assume ownership of selected renewal and expansion opportunities from discovery through close.
  • Build the relationship-management, consultative-selling, and full-cycle sales skills needed to take on broader opportunity ownership over time.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with outside sales team members, AI Program Managers, and other internal teams to coordinate opportunity strategy, customer communication, and transitions into implementation.
  • Develop deep expertise in TechSmart’s AI and Software Development programs, the K–12 market, education funding, and district workforce-readiness priorities.
  • Share prospect feedback, market insights, and emerging opportunities with the broader team to strengthen sales messaging, processes, and strategy.
  • Continuously refine outreach, communication, and opportunity-management practices through coaching, performance data, feedback, and team collaboration.
Preferred Background and Experience

We are looking for someone who combines strong communication and relationship-building skills with disciplined execution, curiosity, and the ability to learn a complex market quickly.

  • Sales or Business Development Experience: 2 or more years of experience in sales, business development, account management, or another customer-facing role. SaaS, EdTech, or K–12 sales experience is preferred.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, authentically, and professionally with school and district leaders.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to establish credibility, develop trust, and sustain productive relationships through consistent follow-through.
  • Operational Excellence: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple prospects, opportunities, deadlines, and follow-up activities with consistency and precision.
  • Learning Agility: Motivated to develop deep expertise in TechSmart’s programs, the K–12 education market, AI, workforce development, and consultative sales practices.
  • Sales Process Discipline: Comfortable working within a structured sales process and maintaining accurate, timely CRM records. Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM is preferred.
  • Ownership and Initiative: Proactive, dependable, and comfortable taking responsibility for outcomes while asking for guidance when needed.
  • Collaboration: Able to work effectively as part of a highly collaborative, team-based sales organization.
  • Integrity: Committed to communicating honestly, treating customers and colleagues respectfully, and doing things the right way for the right reasons.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Why Join TechSmart?
  • Make an impact: Help expand access to AI and Software Development education for students and teachers across the country.
  • Develop meaningful expertise: Build knowledge at the intersection of AI, workforce development, K–12 education, and consultative sales.
  • Grow your career: Develop from pipeline generation and sales support into ownership of renewal, expansion, and full-cycle sales opportunities
  • Join a collaborative team: Work within a strategic, expertise-driven sales organization that values teamwork, continuous improvement, and shared success.
