Callibrity is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role is remote based but must work on U.S. Eastern or Central Time working hours. Will not consider non-US based candidates.

Callibrity is a developer owned and managed custom software development consulting company that is dedicated to creating quality software using modern technologies and adding unquestionable business value to companies across multiple industries and verticals. We are problem solvers...people who like a challenge and enjoy working with modern tech stacks. We offer an incredibly collaborative culture and enjoy solving complex problems with our clients.

At Callibrity, our Interface & Interaction Designers are embedded craft partners, working alongside Product Consultants, stakeholders, and development teams to shape how users experience digital products. We don't just make things look good. We define how interfaces behave, how users navigate complexity, and how visual systems scale across teams and releases.

This role partners closely with Product Consultants throughout the engagement. While the Product Consultant defines what the product will be and why, the Interface & Interaction Designer defines how it looks, feels, and behaves. Both are in the room from discovery through delivery, as peers with distinct craft homes.

Who You Are:

You are a systems-minded designer with a strong foundation in interface and interaction craft. You're comfortable producing wireframes to explore direction, building polished prototypes to validate it, and defending design decisions with sound theory. You know how to make complex interfaces clear, efficient, and beautiful, and you're energized by that challenge.

You participate in discovery alongside Product Consultants, contributing a design lens from the start. You iterate without ego, treat feedback as signal, and take ownership of how the product looks, feels, and behaves.

Callibrity interface & Interaction Designers:

  • Are trusted advisors to our clients and seen as thought leaders in the tech industry.
  • Communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Thrive in an environment where there is close interaction among different roles and teams.
  • Are admired by the client as someone they can count on, regardless of title or seniority.
  • Collaborate with Product Consultants during discovery, contributing a design perspective to research activities, usability sessions, and stakeholder conversations.
  • Execute visual and interaction design from early concepts through developer handoff.
  • Design and evolve design systems by contributing components, defining patterns, and ensuring coherence across products and teams.
  • Create storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to communicate interaction and design ideas effectively.
  • Apply structured critique methods (heuristic review, cognitive walkthrough) to evaluate existing interfaces and produce prioritized, actionable recommendations.
  • Use service design tools (journey maps, blueprints, flow diagrams) to expose interaction gaps that screen-level design alone can miss.
  • Present and defend design decisions to peers, stakeholders, and development teams.
  • Prepare design deliverables for developer handoff (redlines, annotations, specifications) and support development throughout the build process.
  • Front-load design input before sprint planning to reduce churn during development.
  • Identify friction points in interaction patterns, content clarity, and information hierarchy, and recommend improvements.

What Success Looks Like:

  • You produce interfaces that are clear, efficient, accessible, and visually compelling.
  • You participate in discovery as a true partner, not a downstream consumer of requirements.
  • You leave design systems and standards better than you found them.
  • You help development teams build with confidence through clear, thorough handoff.
  • You bring a point of view to critique sessions and build psychological safety around design feedback.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in design or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in interface design, interaction design, UI design, or similar. Senior-level candidates typically bring ~10 years of experience.
  • Experience designing digital products (web apps, native mobile, responsive web, desktop software).
  • Proficiency in Figma for design, prototyping, and design system management.
  • Strong understanding of color, typography, and layout best practices for digital interfaces.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) as they apply to visual and interaction design.
  • Ability to create storyboards, mockups, and click-through prototypes from defined user flows.
  • Experience preparing design deliverables for developer handoff (redlines, annotations, specifications).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Can tell good stories, plainly and succinctly.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and a client-facing presence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Bonus Points For...

  • Consulting or agency experience.
  • Experience with advanced prototyping tools (ProtoPie, Axure) including data layer and input callback functionality.
  • Experience applying structured critique methods (heuristic review, cognitive walkthrough).
  • Hands-on development experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and/or insight into how digital products are built.
  • Experience leading and working within Agile or Scrum teams, and knowing when flexibility matters more than ceremony.
  • For senior+ levels: mentoring, public speaking, or thought leadership on interface and visual design topics.

Benefits of Being a Callibrity Consultant:

  • Health/Vision/Dental insurance effective first day of employment
  • 401k match vested immediately
  • Profit Sharing Bonus
  • Annual professional development stipend ($1,500)
  • Paid parental leave
