Data Engineering - Intern

About the Role: -

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Data Engineering Intern at the graduate level to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain practical experience with advanced data engineering technologies, including Databricks, SQL, Snowflake (data warehousing, Snowpark exposure is a plus), Python, PySpark, and Microsoft Azure. In addition, interns in this role will gain exposure to AI technologies and their implementation within data engineering workflows. This internship is well-suited for individuals who are eager to expand their technical skill set, collaborate with experienced professionals, and actively contribute to the design and implementation of large-scale data solutions.

  • Compensation $25/hr 

  • Location Hybrid with three days in our Jersey City Hexaware Office, willingness to relocate for long term projects in the future is preferred

  • Because we expect to consider these interns for full time employment upon completion of three months, we are only considering Previously Graduated or Spring 2026 Graduates. Based on organization requirements, interns may be considered for full time positions with full benefits.   • Commitment to Learning: Exhibit a proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning throughout the internship. Actively participate in training sessions, seek out opportunities for professional development, and demonstrate continual growth in both technical and business knowledge.

  • Technical Proficiency: Acquire familiarity with the key technologies and tools utilized by the data engineering team, including but not limited to Databricks, SQL, PySpark, Snowflake (data warehousing, Snowpark exposure is a plus) and Azure DevOps. Strive to deepen your practical skills in these areas through hands-on project work.

  • Increasing Autonomy: Begin your internship by working under general supervision, with the expectation of progressively taking on greater responsibility and executing tasks with increased independence as your experience and confidence grow.

  • Collaborative Engagement: Operate effectively within a distributed and diverse global team environment. Demonstrate strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset while working with colleagues across various time zones and locations.

  • AI Integration Exposure: Gain practical exposure to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies within data engineering projects, enhancing your understanding of how advanced analytics and machine learning can drive business value.

Qualifications: -

Must Have Skills/Project Experience/Certifications: -

  • Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, and PySpark (Scala optional) 

  • Experience building metadata-driven ingestion and data quality (DQ) frameworks using PySpark 

  • Solid grasp of Lakehouse architecture, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and other key big data technologies

  • Performance tuning in Databricks/Apache Spark 

  • Hands-on experience with artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) projects is highly desirable. Exposure to integrating AI/ML models within data pipelines or familiarity with AI frameworks will be considered a significant advantage and may provide the candidate with a competitive edge in this role. 

  • Proven team collaboration abilities and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 

 

Education: - 

  • M.Sc (CS) degree or equivalent from accredited university or BS with strong Work or Internship Experience

  • Relevant certifications in cloud, data engineering, or AI/ML are a plus.
