Hillcrest Transitional Housing Internship Program

Overview: Hillcrest Transitional Housing is proud to offer an Internship Program designed to provide hands-on experience in various fields while supporting our mission of providing transitional housing and services to individuals and families in need. This program is open to interns who are passionate about social impact, community service, and professional development.

Internship Areas: Internships are available in the following departments:

  • Social Work

  • Case Management

  • Project Management

  • Human Resources

  • Development

  • Marketing

  • Social Services

  • Retail/Fashion Merchandising

  • Special Events

Internship Details:

  • Eligibility: All interns must be 16 years of age or older and possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.

  • Duration: Internship periods will vary depending on the specific department and internship objectives. The duration of the internship is typically 3-6 months but can be extended based on performance and department needs.

  • Compensation: All internships are currently unpaid. However, interns will receive letters of reference upon successful completion, and partnerships with third-party payees (e.g., stipends or funding organizations) will be highly considered.

Internship Schedule:

  • Standard Work Hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

  • Flexibility: Some weekend and evening hours may be required depending on the department and the nature of the projects.

  • Remote/Hybrid Options: Remote and hybrid work arrangements may be available on an as-needed basis depending on the department's needs and the intern's responsibilities.

Internship Responsibilities:

  • Interns will be assigned meaningful, hands-on tasks designed to help them develop specific skills and gain valuable work experience in their field of interest.

  • Departments and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    • Assisting in case management activities (e.g., client intake, assessments, and service coordination).

    • Helping organize community outreach and fundraising events.

    • Conducting research and preparing reports for project management or development teams.

    • Supporting marketing campaigns through content creation, social media management, or event promotions.

    • Assisting with daily operations and client support in retail/fashion merchandising.

    • Providing administrative support to the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations activities.

    • Contributing to the planning and execution of special events or community outreach initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow written instructions, safety procedures, job aids, and company policies, and to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and volunteers.

  • Driver’s License: Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license.

  • Commitment: Must be able to commit to the internship schedule, including flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work.

  • Skills: Strong communication skills, a desire to learn, and a passion for social services or the specific internship area.

  • Technical Requirements: Depending on the internship, some positions may require proficiency in specific software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, or social media platforms).
