The IP Systems Architect leads pre-sales activities, designs IP/MPLS networks, develops business opportunities, and provides technical training and support to clients in the telecom sector.
Job Description
As an IP Systems Architect, this individual will be primarily responsible for working on Ribbon’s IP hardware and Software products to grow Ribbon’s business in the IP market space. The SE should promote the company's IP/MPLS Routing and Software solutions to the Tier 1, 2 & 3 Service Providers, MSOs etc along with supporting strategic opportunities with other customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead pre-sales activity in the architecture and quoting of IP/MPLS networks for specified customers. Be considered a subject matter expert and utilize expertise in positioning solutions and products.
- Need Excellent understanding of Routing Protocols & MPLS: IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, RSVP, LDP, QoS, Multicast-LU, BGP-LS/PCEP, Segment-Routing MPLS and SRv6
- Understanding Services: L2VPN, L3-VPN & EVPN
- Understanding of Software architectures, testing processes, reliability measurements.
- Be able to write python scripts and programs for analysis of large scale information.
- Deep understanding of Network Automation.
- Position new products, strategy, and vision for the company's Interfaces with Marketing, Commercial, and Product Management for business case development. Perform analysis of network plans developed by the customer and provide recommendations on viability, implementation strategies, and other options as applicable.
- Develop value propositions and solutions based on the company's as well as third party products and services to meet customers’ requirements.
- Develop and identify business opportunities in IP applications in the Service Provider space.
- Provide and present high-quality RFI/RFP/RFQ responses to support business success.
- Assist in training and transfer of technical knowledge to customers and Ribbon SEs
- Contribute to go-to-market plans for product lines.
- Coordinate and lead customer lab trials and proofs of concept working with cross-functional resources to demonstrate technology solutions that win business.
- Conduct on-going technical presentations to various organizations within the targeted accounts to uncover future opportunities and to strengthen the business relationship.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field.
- Proven SE/PLM experience in the Telecom industry with a proven record of accomplishment of selling to Tier 1 and Tier 2 Service Providers.
- Pre-Sales oriented L1-L3 Network Engineering with an emphasis on Telecommunications
- Technical background of the following:
- IP/MPLS, MPLS-TP, Carrier Ethernet
- In depth IP protocols (examples: IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, RSVP, LDP(FRR), QoS, Multicast-LU, BGP-LS/PCEP, Segment-Routing.
- Python Scripting, Network Automation
- Mobile networks (4G,5G)
- Customer facing experience.
