About NODA

NODA is a veteran-owned, venture-backed technology company transforming how unmanned systems collaborate in complex, mission-critical environments. Our distributed orchestration platform enables autonomous coordination of heterogeneous unmanned systems across air, sea, land, and space with vital applications in the defense, intelligence, and commercial sectors.

As we scale toward an office-based environment and additional Department of Defense programs, secure, reliable internal information technology becomes a mission-critical capability - not a side task.

The Role

As an IT Systems Administrator, you will own NODA's corporate IT foundations: endpoint management, identity and access management, onboarding/offboarding, collaboration tooling, and baseline security controls including supporting CMMC. You will ensure every engineer can be productive on day one, every device stays compliant, and our internal systems meet the expectations of government customers and security frameworks. You will work closely with Engineering and DevSecOps to align device posture, identity controls, and audit evidence with our security and compliance requirements.

This role is critical to NODA's mission to scale DoD contracts and maintain compliance posture.

This role requires a hands-on operator who can move quickly in a startup environment while building repeatable, auditable processes for a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own endpoint lifecycle management for macOS (Jamf) and Windows (as applicable): provisioning, patching, encryption, compliance baselines, and inventory.

  • Own identity and access management: Microsoft 365 administration, account provisioning/deprovisioning, groups, licensing, role-based access control, and multi-factor authentication.

  • Build and run onboarding/offboarding workflows: laptop setup, account access, least-privilege permissions, and day-one readiness.

  • Administer core IT services: email and collaboration, file access, virtual private network (VPN), office Wi-Fi, device certificates, and basic network administration for the office.

  • Establish IT ticketing, asset tracking, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for repeatable support and audit readiness.

  • Partner with leadership on security and compliance readiness for government work: device posture, access controls, incident response basics, and evidence collection.

  • Manage vendor relationships and procurement for IT hardware and software (laptops, peripherals, licenses, mobile device management (MDM) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tooling).

  • Support corporate IT incident response: triage, root-cause analysis, prevention guardrails, and post-incident follow-through.

Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration, IT operations, or corporate IT in a fast-moving environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Jamf (or equivalent MDM) for macOS device management.

  • Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 (Entra ID / Azure Active Directory, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint), including onboarding/offboarding and access controls.

  • Demonstrated ability to build repeatable workflows (documentation-first) for provisioning, access management, and support.

  • Practical security mindset: least privilege, multi-factor authentication, endpoint encryption, patch discipline, and audit-friendly recordkeeping.

  • Comfort supporting an office environment (basic networking, Wi-Fi, conference rooms) and remote staff.

  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting regulated environments (DoD/defense, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), NIST SP 800-171, Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), SOC 2, ISO 27001) strongly preferred

  • Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tooling and centralized logging and monitoring.

  • Scripting and automation skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for provisioning and compliance checks.

  • Experience with Okta, Ping Identity, or other third-party identity providers alongside Microsoft Entra ID.

  • Experience setting up IT for a new office: network provider coordination, secure storage, access control, and lab support.

  • Familiarity with AWS administration (IAM, EC2, S3, or similar) for supporting cloud-hosted workloads and developer environments.

Skills and Attributes
  • Startup operator: prioritizes, moves fast, and delivers with limited overhead.

  • Internal customer mindset: treats engineers and staff as customers; optimizes for day-one productivity.

  • Process builder: creates simple standards, templates, and documentation that scale.

  • Security-forward: builds controls that are practical, enforceable, and auditable.

  • Calm under pressure: handles outages and urgent onboarding needs without drama.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to perform the essential physical functions of the role, which may include lifting and carrying equipment or materials up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods during site visits, lab work, or equipment setup, and performing routine manual tasks as needed.

The position requires the ability to safely handle hardware, servers, networking equipment, and other IT or engineering-related materials while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.

What We Offer
  • Competitive pay

  • Flexible time off and generous paid time off (PTO) policy

  • Federal holidays

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • One Medical membership (as provided by company policy)

Growth Path at NODA
  • Systems Administrator: Owns corporate IT operations, device provisioning, identity/access workflows, and day-to-day support.

  • Senior Systems Administrator: Builds scalable mechanisms (automation, security baselines, monitoring), leads office IT expansion, and hardens compliance posture.

  • IT Manager: Leads the IT function, manages vendors and budget, and drives the long-term IT/security roadmap with leadership.

  • Director, IT / Security Operations (as needed): Owns IT operations execution and audit readiness at scale.
