This position blends strong communication, collaboration, and critical‑thinking skills with deep expertise in cloud, security, AI, and enterprise architecture to design scalable, secure, and compliant solutions. They translate business and research needs into well‑governed architectures, integrating cloud platforms, data, AI, and on‑premises systems while applying security‑by‑design, responsible AI practices, and operational best practices. Through partnership with stakeholders across engineering, security, and research teams, they drive trusted, sustainable solutions aligned to business and regulatory outcomes.

Pay Range

$47.50 - $71.25

Major Responsibilities:

Performance Excellence/Continuous Improvement Management: 

  • ​ Plans, schedules, and coordinates complex system software installations and upgrades for systems implemented in the region. Ensures team follows change management processes and makes suggestions on change management process improvements. 
  • Configures, installs and supports virtualization solutions for the organization. Develop solutions in a physically distributed environment throughout all phases of its lifecycle to define, implement and support proof of concept, design, configuration, automation, testing, migration phases, triage incidents to resolution and mentoring of other team members. 
  • Configures, installs and supports complex and ancillary device integration solutions. Develops and initiates comprehensive understanding of technology stack components from desktop to wide area network, to proactively troubleshoot integration conflicts and isolate issues for resolution. Analyzes business requirements and creates technical recommendations. Evaluates new and existing software products. Develops plan, recommends solutions and provides for maintenance, testing, documentation and training for the operating systems and hardware. 
  • Assists with and supports server administration procedures. Ensures capacity monitoring processes are followed and initiates corrective activities. Monitors and tunes diagnostic imaging and other systems implemented in the region to achieve optimum performance levels. Assists in capacity monitoring and planning process design and review. Recommends improvements to current technical architecture. 
  • Implements backup and recovery procedures to ensure data/media recoverability for site based systems. Facilitates disaster recovery and business continuance configurations and procedures. 
  • Follows quality assurance processes to ensure proper system operation, optimum performance, and absence of defects. Ensures integrity for application delivery and directory administration for the Region. 
  • Creates tasks, work estimates, and resource requirements on those tasks. Monitors tasks and resources and initiates corrective actions. Communicates with staff and clients in order to keep them informed with regard to activity status and potential problem areas and provides recommendations to management. 
  • Acts as a technical escalation point with vendors and staff to coordinate application software and hardware changes. Prioritizes problems and issues as needed. Works collaboratively with vendors at technical and management level to resolve problems and manage escalation. 
  • Initiates root-cause analysis and solves complex application software and hardware problems. Tracks and trends problems and makes recommendations towards resolution. Collaborates with technical staff for problem resolution of more complex software and hardware problems, to include wireless technology environment and complex printer issues. 
  • Assists in reviews of capital expenditure requests to ensure configuration and ancillary requirements are correct and comply with Advocate Health technical environment standards. 

Minimum Job Requirements 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field 

Certification / Registration / License

Experience

  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in Microsoft Platforms, Network Communications, and Project Management 
  • Experience in using backup tools, storage systems, and network management systems, application delivery systems and supporting directory technology systems.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities 

  • ​​ Advanced knowledge of operating systems, vendor-specific environments, and other system software. 
  • Advanced knowledge of systems administration and the inter-relationships between application code and server operating systems and desktop operating systems. 
  • Advanced knowledge of hardware and software as used in the clinical and/or business setting. 
  • Demonstrated facilitation skills and ability to explain technical subjects to non-technical clients. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate user requirements into system specifications. 
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to gather, organize and present data. 
  • Strong problem and issue resolution skills. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • ​​​Work environment may contain dust, dirt and noise. 
  • Potential for exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards, and to patient care areas; therefore, must wear protective clothing as necessary. 
  • Exposed to a normal office environment the majority of the time. 
  • Position will require off-hours support and on-call rotation. 
  •  Position requires travel. May be exposed to road and weather hazards. 
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the duties of the job.
