The Opportunity

The Junior Systems & PCB Design Engineer supports the design and development of electronic schematics and printed circuit boards for advanced hardware products. This role is ideal for a an early-career engineer looking to build hands-on hardware design skills while working alongside experienced engineers through the full product development cycle.

What You'll Do:
  • PCB Layout
    • Assist with PCB layout for multi-layer boards in Altium Designer with mentorship from senior hardware engineers.
    • Apply layout best practices for grounding, power distribution, and signal routing.
    • Work with hardware engineers to ensure designs meet physical constraints.
    • Generate manufacturing outputs (Gerbers, drill files, BOMs) with supervision.
  • Libraries & Documentation
    • Create and update schematic symbols and PCB footprints in Altium.
    • Maintain clear and organized design documentation.
    • Follow company standards for naming, versioning, and release processes.
    • Prototyping & Bring-Up Support.
    • Support prototype assembly and basic board bring-up.
    • Assist with debugging and validation in the lab.
    • Help implement design updates and revisions.


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Academic, project, or internship experience using schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Cadence, OrCAD, Eagle, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of core electronics fundamentals (basic analog, digital, and power concepts).
  • Ability to read datasheets and application notes.
  • Willingness to learn PCB manufacturing, assembly, and design best practices.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivating, organized, and detail oriented.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to quickly locate needed information in documents, online, etc.
 

Bonus Points:
  • Experience with Altium Designer (academic or internship experience acceptable).
  • Internship, co-op, or senior design project involving schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Exposure to multi-layer PCB design or hardware debugging.
  • Basic familiarity with lab equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering station).
