Native American Transformer Services, Inc. (NTS) is a Native American-owned, national leader in power transformer field services, delivering testing, diagnostics, reconditioning, and repair to utility and industrial clients across the country. Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, NTS combines deep technical expertise with a reputation for reliability that keeps critical infrastructure running.

Our Junior Electrical Engineers work side-by-side with experienced Senior Engineers on real transformer projects from day one, building the technical foundation and field experience that drive a long, successful engineering career at NTS.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Electrical Engineer supports NTS's engineering team in the diagnostic testing, evaluation, and service of power transformers and associated substation equipment for NTS's national client base. Working under the direction of Senior Electrical Engineers, this role provides hands-on exposure to transformer diagnostics, field testing, and technical reporting across a range of unit sizes and client environments.

This is a developmental, field-based role built for growth. The ideal candidate is a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer who wants to build transformer-specific expertise and progress toward Mid-Level and Senior Electrical Engineer roles as skills, licensure, and field experience develop.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Support diagnostic testing on power transformers under the direction of Senior Engineers, including DGA, power factor, turns ratio, insulation resistance, and excitation testing

Assist with interpreting test data and drafting technical reports, repair scopes, and engineering documentation

Provide on-site support during energization, commissioning, and acceptance testing activities

Learn and apply IEEE C57 standards, NETA specifications, and OSHA safety requirements under senior engineer oversight

Support Senior Engineers with client-facing technical communication and on-site coordination

Maintain accurate field records, test data logs, and equipment documentation

Travel to client sites nationally to support NTS field engineering teams

WHAT YOU BRING

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or closely related field

0–3 years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or a related field — internship, co-op, or academic project experience in utility or transformer work is a plus

Foundational understanding of transformer theory, power systems fundamentals, or electrical testing principles

EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification obtained or actively in progress preferred

Willingness to travel nationally (approximately 30–40%)

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn in a hands-on field environment

Valid driver's license and ability to work safely around energized electrical equipment and outdoor field conditions

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary of $72,000 – $95,000, commensurate with experience, location, and qualifications, plus performance bonus eligibility

100% employer-paid medical coverage (Anthem Blue Cross)

100% employer-paid dental and vision coverage (Humana)

401(k) retirement plan with company match

Paid time off and paid holidays

Direct mentorship from Senior Electrical Engineers and a defined growth path toward Mid-Level and Senior Electrical Engineer roles
