In This Role
In this role, you will support a long-standing database performance engineering initiative focused on validating SQL performance across new hardware platforms and software releases. You will help identify performance regressions, analyze diagnostic data, and collaborate closely with development teams to ensure system stability and scalability.
You will work in a structured test environment where performance benchmarking, regression detection, and root cause analysis are part of daily operations. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, foundational computer science knowledge, and the ability to clearly communicate technical findings to engineers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute SQL performance testing across new hardware and software releases
• Identify, analyze, and document performance regressions
• Conduct performance diagnostics using SQL tools and system metrics
• Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues
• Design and support architecture components including software, hardware, and communication layers to meet enterprise system requirements
• Ensure systems comply with enterprise IT architecture standards and integration requirements
• Evaluate workflow, system design, and organizational processes to recommend performance improvements
• Support compatibility validation within the common operating environment
• Author technical documentation related to test plans, diagnostics, and findings
• Contribute to long-term performance validation initiatives
• Provide guidance or technical direction as needed within small project scopes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
• 0–2 years of professional experience in software or database engineering
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, operating systems concepts)
• Exposure to SQL performance testing, query optimization, or database diagnostics
• Programming or scripting experience in C, C#, or PowerShell
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and findings
• Experience working in structured test or validation environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to performance benchmarking tools or regression detection methodologies
• Understanding of database engine internals and query execution plans
• Experience analyzing system performance metrics (CPU, memory, I/O)
• Experience contributing to technical planning or small solution design efforts
• Prior experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams
• Advanced degree (MBA or related technical master’s degree)
Salary Range
At Blueprint, we strive to offer competitive pay that reflects the value of our team members. Compensation for this role is influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographic market. For candidates based in Washington State, the anticipated salary range is $28.85 to $33.65/ HR. Please note that we typically do not hire new employees at the top of the posted range. Actual starting pay will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity. The final salary and job title may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and could fall outside the stated range.
