About the Role

Pragmatike is recruiting on behalf of a European deep-tech company building a decentralized, energy-efficient alternative to traditional cloud providers. Their platform operates on distributed bare-metal infrastructure with advanced automation, delivering sovereign, high-performance compute for modern workloads.

We are seeking a Senior / Lead Android Engineer (Staff-level mindset) with strong expertise in building robust, scalable Android applications. This role is highly technical, focusing on mobile system design, performance, and seamless interaction with distributed backend systems.

You will play a key role in designing and evolving Android applications that interface with a decentralized cloud platform. You will collaborate closely with backend, infrastructure, and product teams to deliver high-quality, performant, and secure mobile experiences. Autonomy, ownership, and strong architectural judgment are essential.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-performance Android applications using Kotlin.

  • Architect scalable and maintainable mobile solutions with strong emphasis on performance.

  • Build intuitive, responsive UIs aligned with modern Android design principles.

  • Integrate applications with backend services and distributed systems.

  • Ensure efficient data synchronization, offline support, and network resilience.

  • Optimize apps for performance, memory usage, and battery efficiency.

  • Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum processes and contribute to planning and delivery.

  • Own the full mobile lifecycle from development to Play Store deployment.

  • Collaborate with backend and infrastructure teams for seamless integration.

  • Implement mobile security best practices and secure data handling.

  • Conduct code reviews, mentor team members, and improve engineering standards.

  • Drive best practices in Android architecture, CI/CD, and release processes.

Required Qualifications
  • 5–6+ years of experience as a Senior or Lead Android Engineer.

  • Strong expertise in Kotlin and Android SDK.

  • Experience with modern Android architectures (MVVM, Clean Architecture).

  • Deep understanding of Android performance optimization and lifecycle management.

  • Strong experience integrating RESTful APIs and asynchronous programming (Coroutines, Flow).

  • Familiarity with data persistence (Room, SQLite) and caching strategies.

  • Experience with testing frameworks and debugging tools.

  • Experience working in Agile teams.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical direction.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose for modern UI development.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and mobile release processes.

  • Experience with mobile security (secure storage, encryption, authentication).

  • Knowledge of distributed systems or cloud platforms.

  • Experience in deep-tech, infrastructure, or performance-critical environments.

  • Familiarity with observability and mobile analytics tools.
