Who We Are

At Murmuration, we believe that America’s promise is shaped and reshaped by the best ideas and ideals of its communities and the dreams of the people who believe in a better life for themselves, their families, and each other.

We help organizations build power in their communities in four key ways: we organize a network of values-aligned partners; we provide deep, data-driven insights into people, places, and perspectives; we develop tools that make organizing and engagement easy and more effective; and we offer services that strengthen our partners’ capacity to build power and lead change in their communities.

We envision an America where every community has what it needs to help people lead healthy, free, and dignified lives. We work to redesign the systems and structures we all depend on — how we learn, live, govern, and solve problems — so that they are just, equitable, resilient, and rooted in shared responsibility. By strengthening the ties that hold communities together, we aim for civic life defined by collective action and care, with effective leadership that truly represents everyone.

We are a collaborative, curious, and creative team of organizers, scientists, teachers, technologists, campaign veterans, and more who share the unwavering belief that we can use our gifts in service of transforming America — together. We’ve built our team guided by the belief that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. And so we support each other relentlessly — rallying together to face challenges the same way we celebrate each other’s wins.

About the Position

Murmuration is seeking an exceptional Lead Creative Strategist to lead the development and production of innovative, compelling, and effective campaign creative.

We're looking for someone who understands what makes great political and advocacy advertising work and has the creative instincts, strategic judgment, and hands-on experience to make it happen.

The ideal candidate is a creative strategist and storyteller who can take a complex issue, identify the most compelling way to communicate it, and turn that insight into content that captures attention, moves audiences, and inspires action. They are equally comfortable developing a big campaign concept, writing a powerful 30-second ad, and producing digital-first content designed for the way people actually consume information today.

This is a senior, hands-on creative leadership role with people-management responsibility. We're not simply looking for someone to manage agencies or review creative produced by others. We want someone who can conceive, write, develop, and lead the production of outstanding creative work, while building the capabilities and partnerships needed to deliver that work at scale.

We have a particular interest in candidates with deep expertise in digital-first creative, including short-form video, social media advertising, and creator-led content. The ideal candidate understands how the media landscape is changing and knows how to develop content that feels native to the platforms and communities where audiences spend their time. They should also be able to create compelling concepts for political mail.

This person will work closely with Murmuration's campaign strategists and partners to translate strategic insights into high-impact creative campaigns.

Job Level: P5

What You'll Do

Lead Creative Strategy and Concept Development

  • Serve as Murmuration's lead campaign creative strategist, developing bold, original concepts for political, advocacy, and issue-based campaigns;
  • Translate campaign objectives, audience research, and message testing into compelling creative strategies and executions;
  • Develop campaign concepts and creative approaches across digital advertising, video, social media, and other channels;
  • Bring fresh ideas and creative approaches to our work, challenging conventional political advertising and identifying new ways to break through to audiences; and
  • Collaborate with campaign strategists and research teams to ensure creative work is grounded in audience insights and designed to achieve measurable campaign objectives.

Write, Develop, and Produce Exceptional Creative

  • Personally write scripts, advertising copy, creative briefs, and other content for high-impact campaigns;
  • Lead the development and production of persuasive video advertising, including digital-first ads, short-form social content, and traditional broadcast or connected TV creative;
  • Guide creative projects from initial concept and scripting through production, editing, and final delivery;
  • Work directly with editors, designers, videographers, production teams, and other creative collaborators to bring concepts to life;
  • Maintain an exceptionally high bar for creative quality, ensuring content is strategically sound, emotionally compelling, visually engaging, and tailored to its intended audience; and
  • Develop creative that can be adapted and deployed effectively across multiple platforms and formats.

Build Innovative Digital and Creator-Led Campaigns

  • Lead the development of digital-first creative strategies that reflect how audiences engage with content across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging digital channels;
  • Design and manage creator and influencer programs that are fully integrated into broader campaign communications and content strategies;
  • Use creator discovery and campaign management platforms to identify, evaluate, recruit, and onboard creators whose audiences and voices align with campaign objectives;
  • Develop effective creator briefs, manage content development and approvals, and ensure creator partnerships produce authentic, high-quality content;
  • Build relationships with creators and content producers, identifying opportunities for sustained partnerships rather than isolated sponsored posts; and
  • Stay ahead of emerging content formats, creator trends, and changes in digital media consumption, continuously bringing new ideas and approaches into Murmuration's work.

Drive Creative Testing and Performance

  • Help design and implement approaches for testing creative concepts and advertising executions before campaigns go to scale;
  • Use performance data, testing results, and audience feedback to refine creative approaches and improve campaign effectiveness;
  • Develop multiple creative approaches and iterations to identify which messages, formats, and executions are most effective; and
  • Help build a culture in which creative excellence and measurable impact reinforce one another.

Build and Lead Murmuration's Creative Capabilities

  • Help establish Murmuration as a leader in innovative, effective political and advocacy creative;
  • Build and manage relationships with freelance creatives, production partners, agencies, and other specialized vendors;
  • Oversee creative production workflows, timelines, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered at a high level and on schedule;
  • Establish standards and processes for creative development, production, review, and quality control;
  • Work collaboratively with campaign strategists and partner organizations to identify creative opportunities, develop recommendations, and bring ambitious ideas to life; and
  • Contribute to the growth of Murmuration's in-house creative capabilities, identifying opportunities to expand the types and quality of content we can produce for partners.

Requirements
  • A demonstrated track record of exceptional creative work. You have personally conceived, written, and produced compelling advertising or campaign content, with a portfolio that demonstrates both creative originality and strategic effectiveness;
  • Deep experience in political, advocacy, or mission-driven campaigns. You understand how to develop persuasive content that engages audiences, shapes opinions, and motivates action;
  • Outstanding writing and storytelling skills. You can write a compelling script, distill a complicated issue into a simple and powerful idea, and adapt your voice and approach for different audiences and platforms;
  • Strong digital creative instincts. You understand what makes content effective on social media and digital advertising platforms, including the differences between content that feels native to a platform and content that simply repurposes traditional advertising;
  • Hands-on production experience. You have successfully guided creative projects from concept to completion and know how to work with editors, designers, production teams, and other collaborators to deliver excellent work;
  • Experience managing creator and influencer campaigns. You know how to use self-service creator discovery and management platforms, recruit and brief creators, manage content production, and integrate creator partnerships into broader campaign strategies;
  • Strong strategic judgment. You can connect creative decisions to campaign objectives, audience insights, and research findings, balancing creative ambition with strategic discipline;
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial approach. You're comfortable working across teams, managing multiple projects, building new capabilities, and rolling up your sleeves to get things done;
  • Significant professional experience developing and producing campaign creative, ideally in a political consulting firm, creative agency, digital agency, advocacy organization, or comparable environment;
  • Experience building or leading an in-house creative function or managing a network of freelance creative talent;
  • Familiarity with creator management platforms and paid creator programs, including recruitment, contracting, briefing, content approvals, and performance evaluation; and
  • Experience with creative testing, including message testing, ad testing, and performance-based creative optimization.
