The Lead Data Architect works in all data environments which includes data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation.
The Lead Data Architect works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

As a Lead Data Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering high-quality data products, from conception to launch. Your responsibilities will span from engaging with stakeholders and conducting user research to defining curated data assets that empower business analysts with descriptive, prescriptive, and predictive insights. You will lead efforts to create scalable and innovative data solutions while ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy Development

    Develop and implement a comprehensive technical data strategy aligned with the organization’s goals, ensuring scalability and adaptability

  • Architecture Design

    Design and oversee the implementation of modern data architectures, including data models, integration frameworks, and governance policies.

  • Champion the adoption of federated architectures such as Data Mesh, ensuring metadata management, lineage, discovery, and quality standards are established.

  • Technology Leadership

    Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies.

  • Recommend and implement state-of-the-art data solutions to improve efficiency, scalability, and data quality.

  • Collaboration

    Partner with enterprise architects, data scientists, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver robust architectural solutions. Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment between technical and business teams

  • Data Governance

    Define and enforce data governance policies to uphold data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations. Performance Optimization

  • Hands-On Execution

    Engage in coding and prototyping to transform ideas into functional products. Mentor and guide data engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. Lead distributed teams across multiple locations in delivering cloud-based data architecture engagements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering and architecture.

  • 5+ years of deep experience building cloud data solutions with technologies such as Azure Data Lakes, Databricks, and Snowflake.

  • 5+ years of experience leading complex cloud-based architecture projects across distributed teams

  • Proficiency in federated data architectures (e.g., Data Mesh) and centralized models.

  • Strong experience with metadata management, data lineage, governance, discovery, and quality.

  • Expertise in programming languages like Python.

  • Hands-on experience with Data Lakes, Event Streaming, Data Fabric, DevOps

  • Proven ability to influence, motivate, and align teams around common technical decisions.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to engage technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks, tools and MLOps

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.  

  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$129,300 - $177,800 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
