Responsibilities

About The Role:  

The Lead DevOps Automation Engineer provides technical leadership in designing and delivering solutions that enhance developer productivity across the enterprise. This role is responsible for automating security and governance controls, and for the implementation and maintenance of tools and infrastructure supporting the SDLC pipeline and configuration management capabilities.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and support tools and infrastructure for SDLC pipelines and configuration management
  • Architect, implement, and deploy CI/CD pipelines for software and infrastructure delivery
  • Lead knowledge sharing of standards, technical approaches, and tooling capabilities across the team
  • Communicate technical strategies and implementation status to stakeholders
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within team-owned infrastructure and platforms
  • Drive continuous improvement of tools, processes, and platform capabilities
  • Plan, install, and upgrade tools and infrastructure in alignment with platform needs
  • Promote and advocate for DevOps best practices, standards, and platform capabilities across the organization
  • Represent stakeholder requirements and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the enterprise
  • Lead or facilitate critical incident response and escalation activities as needed
  • Manage work intake through Agile processes and team workflows
  • Track and report platform KPIs for stakeholder visibility and decision-making
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as required
Qualifications

What Makes You an ideal Candidate?

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy, and related technologies
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt, or DSC
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using languages such as Python, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby, Go, or C#
  • Experience developing software or automation solutions using at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Go, C#)
  • Experience working with enterprise platforms, operating systems, web applications, and microservices architectures
  • Experience working with containerized environments, including Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration platforms, with the ability to deploy, support, and troubleshoot containerized workloads
  • Experience with web and API technologies, including REST, JSON, XML, SOAP, and related standards
  • Knowledge of API authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, reverse proxies, SSL/TLS)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and architectures across public cloud providers (e.g., Azure, AWS), including services such as Blob Storage, EC2, S3, Cosmos DB, Azure Functions, AKS, and EKS
  • Knowledge of IT security, system administration, and infrastructure best practices
  • Experience working with web server technologies such as NGINX, Apache, Tomcat, and IIS
  • Experience administering and maintaining servers and environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders
     

Experience and Education

  • 6-8 years of experience with automation technologies with at least 2 years of experience with container and/or container orchestration management required
  • 3-5 years of experience with modern SDLC automation preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required
