About the Team/Role

WEX is building a next-generation data platform to power innovation across our products and services. Within our Foundational Data organization, we are investing in internal developer platforms that enable our data engineers to build, deploy, and scale high-quality data products efficiently.

As a Lead Product Manager, Developer Experience, you will own the vision and strategy for our Data Engineering Hub (DEHub)—an internal platform designed to standardize and accelerate data engineering workflows. This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of product and engineering, with a long-term mandate to evolve internal tooling into externally viable products.

You will partner closely with data and platform engineers as your primary users, driving both internal platform maturity and the future externalization of developer tools into scalable, market-facing solutions.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Define and drive the product strategy and roadmap for DEHub and related developer experience tools

  • Partner deeply with data and platform engineering teams to understand user needs and improve developer productivity

  • Standardize and scale internal data platform capabilities to improve efficiency and governance

  • Lead discovery efforts, including stakeholder interviews, to identify pain points and opportunities

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear product direction and value propositions

  • Drive adoption of internal tools by making “the right way” the easiest way for engineers

  • Establish a long-term vision for externalizing internal tools into market-ready products (open source or commercial)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including engineering, legal, and security to support go-to-market readiness

  • Define success metrics and quantify the business value of platform investments

  • Influence cross-functional teams and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement

Experience you’ll bring

  • 7+ years of experience in Technical Product Management, Engineering, or related roles

  • Strong technical background in data infrastructure, developer platforms, or DevOps environments

  • Experience working closely with engineers and building products for technical users

  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python or Spark preferred)

  • Experience contributing to or supporting the development of data platforms, APIs, or developer tools

  • Ability to operate in ambiguity and drive clarity in complex, evolving environments

  • Strong product mindset with experience in discovery, roadmap development, and stakeholder alignment

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and lead cross-functional initiatives

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business audiences

  • Curiosity and ability to articulate a forward-looking vision for data engineering and developer experience

What will give you an edge

  • Experience taking internal tools to market or contributing to commercialization efforts

  • Background as a data engineer or software engineer

  • Experience with open source projects or ecosystems

  • Familiarity working with legal/security considerations for product externalization

  • Exposure to tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Snowflake, Databricks, or Kubernetes
