Overview

FMI's Training Institute is seeking a collaborative and engaging Leadership Development Facilitator to support the continued growth of our Custom Cohort Programs, a rapidly expanding offering that delivers multi-session leadership development experiences for construction industry clients.

For more than 70 years, FMI has partnered with organizations across the built environment to develop exceptional leaders and build stronger, more profitable businesses. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about facilitation, adult learning, and leadership development and is eager to grow alongside an experienced team of consultant facilitators.

As a Leadership Development Facilitator, you'll partner with Senior Facilitators to deliver highly interactive learning experiences that help leaders strengthen their skills and drive meaningful change within their organizations. This is not a traditional trainer role. Success in this position requires the ability to read the room, adapt to different client environments, facilitate meaningful discussion, and tailor the learning experience to each cohort. You'll gain experience working with a variety of construction organizations while building your facilitation and consulting capabilities through coaching, observation, and hands-on delivery.

Travel is approximately 50% - 70%, primarily for client program delivery throughout the United States.

This is a full time position which can be remote but with preference given to candidates located near FMI’s Raleigh, NC or Denver, CO offices.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. FMI is unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Co-facilitate leadership development programs across FMI's Custom Cohort Programs alongside Senior Facilitators.
  • Deliver engaging learning experiences by facilitating discussions, activities, and portions of program content that encourage participant reflection and practical application.
  • Foster inclusive, psychologically safe learning environments that promote engagement, collaboration, and growth.
  • Build strong relationships with participants while contributing to an exceptional client experience through professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Partner closely with Senior Facilitators, the Custom Cohorts Operations Manager, and internal teams to prepare for and deliver successful client engagements.
  • Adapt your facilitation approach based on participant needs, group dynamics, and client objectives.
  • Participate in preparation meetings, delivery debriefs, and ongoing facilitator development to continuously strengthen your facilitation, communication, and group management skills.
  • Expand your knowledge of leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and the construction industry through ongoing client engagement and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, organizational development, psychology, education, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in facilitation, training, leadership development, coaching, teaching, consulting, or a related field.
  • Experience leading groups, presenting, facilitating discussions, or delivering learning experiences
  • Passion for leadership development, adult learning, and helping others grow.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, curiosity, and openness to coaching and feedback.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments while managing multiple priorities.
  • Professional presence with the ability to build rapport across a variety of audiences.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States (50–70%).
