As a Legal Assistant, you'll provide comprehensive legal support to attorneys across all aspects of case management and legal services delivery, adapting to individual attorney working styles and practice area needs. We're a small, highly skilled team that works together to achieve our goals, and we roll up our sleeves when needed in order to get the job done.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Essential Job Functions:

Assists and supports attorneys in the delivery of legal services, including but not limited to:

  • Drafting legal correspondence and documents including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and agreements.

  • Preparing, finalizing, and filing legal documents with courts and administrative agencies, ensuring compliance with specific rules and deadlines.

  • Conducting legal research using various resources, including online databases, legal libraries, and case law databases, to gather relevant information for ongoing cases or legal projects.

  • Processing assigned subpoena requests by reviewing claim file, pulling requested file material, identifying and withholding privileged documents; responding to direct written questions; invoicing third parties; and seeking guidance from attorneys or senior legal assistant when appropriate.

  • Preparing check requests for filing fees, transcripts, or medical records.

Supports effective case management and administration, including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining case-specific calendar deadlines and checklists for attorneys; communicating with and assisting attorneys regarding plan of action.

  • Organizing and maintaining case files, ensuring all relevant documents, evidence, and correspondence are properly indexed and readily accessible.

  • Maintaining accurate case file notations upon receipt of payment notifications from Accounting, ensuring timely reporting to the Subrogation department.

  • Preparing materials for trials, hearings, and depositions, as directed by attorney; communicating with court coordinators; assembling trial and hearing notebooks; and making travel arrangements.

  • Scheduling depositions, mediations, and other legal proceedings and providing scheduling assistance to court reporters, witnesses, outside counsel, and opposing counsel for court hearings.

Nonessential Job Functions

Completes special projects as assigned.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

Texas Mutual Pay Transparency

The base pay range is based on the market evaluation of the job and may include pay for multiple levels. Individual base pay within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, performance, education, and demonstration of skills and competencies required for each role. Your recruiter can discuss the full value of our total compensation package with you, including our generous bonus plans and flex-hybrid work model.

Base Pay Range: $40.72 - $50.30 Per Hour

Texas Mutual’s flex-hybrid schedule allows you to bring your best self to work by working remotely and collaborating in the office based on business needs. All Texas Mutual employees are required to have Texas residency and travel to their designated office as needed.
