Role Summary

Chromatic is looking for its first Legal Operations Manager to help build and manage our legal workflows as we scale.

This role will support the Go-To-Market and Business Operations teams with day-to-day contract review, external counsel coordination, vendor agreement review, and legal operations infrastructure. You’ll work closely with Sales, Security and leadership to keep legal requests moving efficiently and consistently.

This is a hands-on, build-from-scratch role. The right person is comfortable reviewing standard agreements against approved templates, playbooks, and fallback positions, knows when to escalate to external counsel, and can create the systems and workflows that make legal work easier for the business over time.

This isn’t just about moving contracts through review. It’s about building a scalable legal operations function that helps Chromatic move faster, reduce risk, and make better business decisions.

What You’ll DoSupport Contract Review & Counsel Coordination
  • Review edits to agreements, including NDAs, DPAs, customer subscription orders, terms of service, vendor agreements, and security addendums.

  • Identify legal or business risks and escalate custom, novel, or higher-risk language to external counsel when needed.

  • Coordinate with external counsel on complex matters and summarize key risks, recommendations, and decisions for internal stakeholders.

  • Help the GTM team keep contract reviews moving while maintaining consistency with company policies.

Build Legal Operations Infrastructure
  • Build and maintain foundational legal operations processes, including contract tracking, intake workflows, document organization, and approval processes.

  • Organize existing legal documents so contracts, templates, accepted language, deviations, obligations, renewals, and approvals are easy to find.

  • Create and maintain contract templates, clause libraries, fallback language, and internal playbooks to reduce repetitive review.

  • Improve how legal work is managed across tools like Google Drive, PandaDoc, HubSpot, Notion, and any new tools the function may need.

Support Vendor Review & Contract-Related Risk
  • Review vendor agreements for new software and service purchases as needed.

  • Support customer and vendor contract requirements tied to security, compliance, and insurance documentation.

  • Help internal teams understand when legal review is needed and how to route requests through the right process.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience as a paralegal, legal operations professional, contract manager, legal counsel, or similar legal support role, ideally in a SaaS, a law firm or technology company.

  • Comfortable reviewing standard contracts and identifying when something needs to be escalated.

  • Familiarity with SaaS agreements, NDAs, DPAs, order forms, vendor agreements, and security or privacy-related contract terms.

  • Experience coordinating with external counsel and translating legal guidance into clear business recommendations.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable building processes, systems, templates, and documentation from scratch.

  • Clear and practical communicator who can work cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Security, Business Operations, and leadership.

Nice to Have
  • Paralegal certification, legal operations experience, or legal training.

  • Experience working with GTM teams on customer contract review.

  • Experience creating clause libraries, contract playbooks, intake forms, or approval workflows.

  • Familiarity with SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA, vendor due diligence, security addendums, or privacy-related contract review.
