ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regulatory Affairs Manager will be part of Bright Health’s Legal and Compliance teams and will assist with the oversight and day-to-day management of Bright Health’s key regulatory relationships while also monitoring and advising the business on state and federal regulatory developments.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments (statutes, regulations, and sub regulatory guidance) at the state and federal level impacting Bright Health’s business
  • Communicate developments clearly and efficiently to internal clients
  • Manage research requests for the Regulatory Affairs team
  • Research, analyze and advise internal stakeholders on existing state and federal health insurance law, policy and regulation across multiple jurisdictions
  • Maintain internal repository of team research that can be easily updated and referenced
  • Coordinate and prepare regulatory submissions - advise internal clients on matters concerning the substance, timing, and business impact of evolving regulatory requirements and work as an intermediary with regulatory agencies, as necessary, to clarify questions
  • Serve as the liaison to state regulatory agencies – establish and maintain relationships with state regulatory account managers, front line staff, and leadership (virtually in the near-term and eventually through both in person meetings and conferences)
  • Draft formal communications to state agencies regarding day-to-day affairs, regulatory inquiries, regulatory reporting requirements, rulemaking and policy changes, financial affairs, and, from time to time, escalated consumer matters

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a subject area commensurate with responsibilities is required; JD strongly preferred
  • A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of relevant experience within the health care regulatory affairs environment required
  • Subject matter expertise in regulatory affairs matters impacting health plans is required
  • Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships with regulatory agencies is required
  • Experience interpreting complex regulations and regulatory guidance is required

  • JD preferred
