The Role

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the efficient, accurate, and compliant movement of pharmaceutical products throughout the global distribution network. This role ensures timely order fulfilment, inventory accuracy, and transportation coordination while maintaining compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP), company policies, and regional specific regulatory requirements. The Logistics Specialist collaborates with warehouse operations, transportation providers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to optimize supply chain performance, resolve shipment issues, and support satisfactory global client expectations. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical problem-solving, and a commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction in a highly regulated environment.

Key Outcomes

· Coordinate domestic and international shipments of pharmaceutical products, ensuring timely, secure, and compliant delivery to customers, distribution centers, and manufacturing sites.

· Plan, schedule, and monitor the transportation of controlled drugs, temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and company policies.

· Ensure compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP), applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and all applicable local, national, and international regulations governing pharmaceutical distribution.

· Coordinate cold chain logistics by monitoring validated shipping methods, temperature-controlled packaging, data loggers, and excursion management to maintain product integrity throughout the supply chain.

· Manage shipments of controlled substances in compliance with applicable licensing, security, chain-of-custody, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements.

· Coordinate the shipment of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable transportation regulations, ensuring proper classification, packaging, labeling, documentation, and carrier selection.

· Prepare, review, and maintain shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, customs documentation, dangerous goods declarations, export documentation, certificates, and other regulatory records.

· Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Warehouse Operations, Procurement, Commercial team and Supply Chain teams to ensure compliant and uninterrupted product distribution.

· Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve transportation delays, customs issues, temperature excursions, security incidents, and delivery exceptions.

· Coordinate product returns, recalls, quarantined inventory, reverse logistics, and product disposition activities in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.

· Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), freight forwarders, customs brokers, parcel carriers, and specialized pharmaceutical transportation providers to ensure compliance with service level agreements.

· Monitor logistics performance metrics, transportation costs, delivery performance, temperature excursion trends, and carrier performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

· Support import and export compliance activities, including customs clearance, trade documentation, restricted party screening, and country-specific regulatory requirements.

· Utilize enterprise resource planning (ERP), warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and shipment visibility platforms to manage logistics operations and maintain accurate records.

· Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and internal quality audits by maintaining complete, accurate, and audit-ready logistics documentation.

· Develop, review, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and logistics process documentation.

· Coordinate with Sales & Procurement on order status and movement of shipments throughout departments.

· Ensure proper shipping documentation (Certificate of Origin, SED, Air Waybill, COA, commercial invoice) is attached to each shipment.

Key Skills & Experiences

· Five years or more experience in shipping, warehouse operations, transportation, and product distribution and coordination

· Warehousing and freight forwarding knowledge (standard shipping practices, Incoterms, etc.)

· HazMat certified

· International shipping experience

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

· Attention to detail; organizational skills

· Strong problem solving and analytical skills

· Software Proficiency: Experience with warehouse & inventory software and RF scanners.

· Hands on approach to problem solving and mind set, organised and methodical.

· Experience working in a highly regulated environment and an understating of GxP activities.

Due to the expected key outcomes associated with this role by its nature it will be a role based out of our facility in Garner, Raleigh, NC. It is important to note that although we expect this role to be a ‘9 to 5’ type position, there will be situations where flexibility is appreciated to get the job done. Work Environment and Physical Demands:

· Mostly controlled but potentially varying internal environmental conditions, including temperature and noise changes within acceptable safety levels typical to a warehouse environment.

· Work may involve long-term standing, sitting, and frequent walking throughout areas such as warehouses, re-packaging, or Engineering labs and navigating common hazards related to these areas.

· Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 occasionally.

· Must be able to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.

· Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
