The world is wired and tired. It's plagued by screens, notifications, and the sense that you should always be doing ... something. But hey, you're reading this job application right now, so you probably know exactly what we're talking about.

So here's a bit of good news amidst all the noise: Hatch is a sleep wellness company that's betting on rest in a culture obsessed with optimization. While most technology is designed to keep you engaged, our devices use the science of habit formation to help people unplug, unwind, and recharge. Through genuinely enjoyable routines, habit building, and gentle guidance (no sleep scores or wearables here), we help people build healthier sleep habits and feel the difference in everyday life.

Ten years ago, we started with a mission to help parents navigate the complexities of newborn sleep. Today, we're helping more than 5 million people (and counting) take care of themselves and the people they love through the power of rest.

We’re open to candidates across the U.S. and Canada. However, please note that Hatch is based in California, so we just ask that you're available during PST/PDT hours.

The Gig: How You’ll Make an Impact

Our Operations team is looking for a Logistics Contractor to support omnichannel distribution while a team member is out on leave—keeping inbound freight and forwarder relationships on track, and owning the transactions, landed cost, and inventory reconciliation that keep our books accurate across every location. The contractor will be working up to 40 hours per week. This is an initial 6-month contract engagement, with the option to extend based on business needs.

This is a coverage role with real ownership. You'll be the person our forwarders and 3PLs hear from when a shipment needs to move faster or a booking decision has to be made, and the person Sourcing, Inventory Planning, and Accounting come to for shipment status, transaction accuracy, and landed cost questions. We're not looking for someone to hold the seat warm. We need someone who can read a shipment exception, decide what to do, and close the loop with the transactions and reconciliations that keep inventory accurate across every channel. You'll report to the Director of Operations and work closely with Sourcing, Inventory Planning, Channel Management, Accounting, and our forwarder and 3PL partners.

This role is remote-friendly but must be based in the U.S. or Canada. Hatch is based in California, so we ask that you're available during PST/PDT hours.

What You'll Do

📆 Projects:

  • Own day-to-day international inbound freight execution across Flexport and Amazon Global Logistics (AGL): create and manage bookings, review rates and surcharges, track shipments from factory to destination, and resolve exceptions with carriers and forwarders
  • Manage Amazon inbound programs end to end: FBA shipment creation and labeling, AWD placement and replenishment, inventory removals, resolving inbound creation issues by creating cases with Amazon as needed, and FC routing changes—across US and our expanding EU and UK marketplaces
  • Serve as the single source of truth on shipment status. Publish recurring shipment updates to the supply chain team so planning, sourcing, and channel partners know what's landing when, without having to chase it
  • Coordinate customs clearance and trade compliance: HTS classification support, commercial documentation accuracy, customs broker coordination, and responses to CBP requests for information
  • Access US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) ACE portal to match customs check numbers to their related entry numbers
  • Partner with Sourcing and our contract manufacturers (Luxshare, Escatec, and others) on shipping documents, labeling requirements, cargo readiness, and payment or document-release blockers that hold up freight
  • EPR maintenance: Pull monthly/quarterly reports as needed, ensure invoices are paid, request updates on pending EPR numbers, and request contracts for new territories
  • Maintain and update landed cost on a shipment and individual product basis.
  • Create and reconcile  transactions in Netsuite that accompany the physical movement of goods between supplier and warehouse.
  • Own month-end inventory reconciliation process across all physical locations.
  • Escalate 3PL and forwarder SLA misses, chase credits on performance-related chargebacks, and partner with Accounting on freight invoice and deduction disputes

🚀 Wishlist:

  • Build a lightweight weekly inbound health summary so leadership sees freight risk, cost trends, and Amazon inventory position without asking for it
  • Document the recurring plays—AGL vs. Flexport routing decisions, Amazon booking workarounds, EU customs routing, CBP response process—so this knowledge doesn't live in one person's head
  • Identify freight cost savings opportunities through carrier and mode comparison, and bring a recommendation rather than a spreadsheet
  • Support peak season readiness: BFCM inventory positioning, AWD storage promotion deadlines, and Chinese New Year factory shutdown planning
  • Improve the inbound exception loop so delays surface to planning and channel teams the same day, not the same week

Human:

  • Proactive communicator: you post the update before someone asks for it, and you say what you're doing about a delay in the same breath as reporting it
  • Independent operator: you own your workstream, make routing and escalation calls without daily check-ins, and know which decisions genuinely need your manager
  • Calm in exceptions: customs holds, missed vessels, withheld bills of lading, and Amazon portal glitches are the job, not the emergency. You work the problem and keep everyone informed
  • Ramps fast: You're comfortable being useful in week two of a contract engagement, in someone else's systems, on someone else's partner relationships
What You'll Bring

Must have:

  • 5+ years in international logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations, ideally in consumer electronics or CPG. This is a coverage role with a short ramp, so we're looking for someone who has done this work before rather than someone growing into it
  • Hands-on experience running international ocean and air freight yourself: creating bookings, reading rate structures and GRIs, managing forwarders, and resolving shipment exceptions without waiting for someone to tell you what to do
  • Direct, personal experience with Amazon inbound programs—Seller Central, FBA shipment creation and labeling, AWD—including the operational quirks of Amazon's routing and receiving rules
  • Working knowledge of customs and trade compliance: HTS classification, commercial documentation, duties, and responding to CBP requests for information
  • ERP experience including transfer order management, receipt creation, and month-end transaction completeness audit.
  • Knowledge and experience in performing month-end inventory reconciliations.
  • Strong written communication. A real part of this role is clear, timely async updates that a cross-functional team can act on
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and something always pops up mid-day

Strong plus:

  • Amazon Seller Central, Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) and Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) experience specifically
  • NetSuite
  • Familiarity with CBP’s ACE portal
  • EU and UK import experience, including customs clearance routing
  • Experience working directly with contract manufacturers in Asia on shipping documentation and cargo readiness
  • Freight cost analysis and carrier or mode comparison
