The M&A Advisor will analyze deals, support due diligence, and develop business cases while collaborating with senior leadership to drive value creation.
Overview
We are seeking a highly strategic, analytically driven M&A Advisor to support Contrarian Boardroom member acquisitions, Contrarian Thinking Co-investments, and strategic initiatives across the full deal and decision lifecycle, as well as the Academy curriculum profile. This role blends M&A execution with corporate strategy, business case development, and market intelligence, partnering closely with Senior Leadership, finance, product, and external advisors to help our members evaluate deals and opportunities, articulate strategy, and drive long-term value creation for Contrarian Thinking.
Key ResponsibilitiesM&A, Investments & Deal Execution- Lead analysis of deals for our Academy Community, assisting in all aspects of due diligence, negotiation, and valuation/structuring, and acting as a direct support resource for our Academy Members as they pursue acquisitions
- Coordinate early-stage due diligence, including data room management and information gathering from internal and external stakeholders.
- Educate members on preparing capital raising materials
- Lead analysis of deals for our Academy Community, assisting in all aspects of due diligence, negotiation, and valuation/structuring
- Prepare executive-level investment memos and presentations summarizing target profiles, strategic rationale, and deal impact for SLT and Board review.
- Assist members in collaborating with business brokers, legal, finance (QoE,) and functional leaders throughout transaction processes.
- Develop curriculum and present data-driven business cases for acquisitions, new product initiatives, enhancements, and major investments.
- Support the development and application of best-practice strategic frameworks (SWOT, Porter’s Five Forces, Build vs. Buy) and success metrics.
- Assist senior leaders and functional teams in refining and articulating department-level and enterprise strategies.
- Prepare, update, and maintain strategy documentation and materials for leadership and Board consumption, including “big bet” initiatives.
- Monitor venture capital and private equity landscapes for emerging trends, funding activity, and potential acquisition or investment targets.
- Conduct market, industry, and competitive research to inform strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Partner with product marketing and product teams to analyze industry trends, technology shifts, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics.
- Define, track, and report on key product and business KPIs (adoption, retention, revenue growth) to inform investment and strategy decisions.
- Build and refine M&A curriculum in connection with product & experience (P&E) team
- Act as a strategic partner to SLT, finance, product, and other academy members to evaluate opportunities through a consistent strategic and investment lens.
- Synthesize quantitative and qualitative insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in M&A, corporate strategy, product strategy, investment analytics, management consulting, private equity, valuations or related roles.
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and valuation expertise.
- Experience with AI based tools a plus
- Experience developing strategic frameworks, business cases, and executive-level materials.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear strategic insights.
- Highly detail-oriented, discreet, and comfortable operating in high-stakes, fast-paced environments.
