Position Overview:
The Manager, AI Products & GIS is responsible for developing and delivering AI-enabled products, GIS solutions, and technology-driven workflow improvements that create measurable value for JSI and its clients. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this position combines hands-on product development, AI-enabled software development, GIS leadership, and project management.
The Manager will help translate business and technical needs into practical solutions, rapidly develop and test new concepts, and move successful solutions from prototype through production. The role will be a key contributor to JSI's product-development and innovation efforts, with particular emphasis on applying artificial intelligence, automation, software, and geospatial technologies to telecommunications engineering, consulting, managed services, and internal operations.
This is a hands-on technical leadership position intended for someone who can both build solutions and coordinate the people and resources required to deliver them.
Responsibilities
- Develop AI-enabled applications, tools, and workflow automation using LLMs, APIs, RAG, agentic AI, MCP, and related technologies.
- Build and test prototypes/MVPs, then scale successful ones into secure, production-ready applications.
- Provide day-to-day leadership for JSI's GIS technology, data, and workflows, and identify opportunities to automate GIS/broadband engineering processes.
- Support the CTO in shaping technology strategy into executable product initiatives, including roadmaps and business cases.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (developers, GIS professionals, engineers, consultants) and external technology partners/vendors.
- Ensure applications are well-architected, secure, documented, and supportable.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, GIS, data science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in software development, GIS, product development, or related technical disciplines.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Working knowledge of APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and modern application architecture.
- Experience with GIS platforms, geospatial data, or spatial analysis.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with AI-assisted development, LLMs, generative AI, RAG, or AI agents.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, or SQL.
- Experience with Esri, ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, or similar.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud; Git/CI/CD practices.
- Background in telecommunications, broadband, or fiber network infrastructure.
- Product/project management experience taking concepts from MVP to production.
