Procore is looking for a Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering in our Datagrid division. In this role you will lead a specialized team of "Product Engineers in the field." You aren't just managing delivery; you are building the technical bridge between our platform and our most strategic customers. You will scale the team, define the deployment playbook, and ensure that field insights are directly influencing our core product roadmap.

What you'll do:

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-velocity team of FDEs. You will manage career paths for engineers who thrive on the variety of customer-facing work rather than pure R&D.

  • Field-to-Product Feedback Loop: Act as the primary advocate for the customer within the engineering organization. You will synthesize field requirements into actionable signals for Product and Core Engineering.

  • Deployment Excellence: Own the "Time-to-Value" metric. You will standardize deployment methodologies, ensuring implementations are repeatable, secure, and production-grade.

  • Technical Escalation: Serve as the "final boss" for complex technical blockers. Whether it's a difficult data integration or an architectural mismatch, you provide the senior technical guidance to unblock your team.

  • Stakeholder Navigation: Partner with Sales and Customer Success to manage technical expectations during the post-sales lifecycle, ensuring we deliver on the vision promised during the deal.

  • Travel often up to 25-50%, as needed to client sites.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience: 6+ years in software engineering or solutions architecture, with at least 2+ years in a formal management or "lead" capacity.

  • The Hybrid Mindset: You are comfortable reading code (Python, Java, TypeScript, etc.) and discussing APIs, but you are equally adept at speaking to a customer’s VP of Engineering about business ROI.

  • Operational Rigor: You don't just solve problems; you build systems to prevent them. You have experience creating playbooks, automation scripts, or documentation that makes the next deployment 2x faster.

  • Architectural Depth: Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), data pipelines, and enterprise security (SSO, RBAC, etc.).

  • Calm Under Pressure: FDE work can be chaotic. You are the steady hand when a high-stakes customer deployment hits a snag.

Additional Information

Base Pay Range:

This role may also be eligible for Equity Compensation and/or Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.

For Los Angeles County (unincorporated) Candidates:

Procore will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records, in accordance with the requirements of applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, and the California Fair Chance Act.

A criminal history may have a direct, adverse, and negative relationship on the following job duties, potentially resulting in the withdrawal of the conditional offer of employment: 1. appropriately managing, accessing, and handling confidential information including proprietary and trade secret information, as well as accessing Procore's information technology systems and platforms; 2. interacting with and occasionally having unsupervised contact with internal/external customers, stakeholders, and/or colleagues; and 3. exercising sound judgment.
