Role and Responsibilities
- Manage the client’s NERC GOP Program by ensuring operational activities and compliance obligations are performed in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards, Regional Entity requirements, and applicable procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the client and Regional Entities for all GOP‑related communications.
- Develop, maintain, and update GOP program documentation, including Operating Plans, procedures, Operating Guides, communication protocols, event reporting workflows, and evidence repositories.
- Evaluate real‑time and near‑real‑time operating responsibilities, including operating logs, outage coordination requirements, telemetry obligations, and performance expectations defined by BAs and TOPs.
- Ensure timely reporting of operational events and internal event documentation.
- Coordinate and support control center activities, including operator readiness, procedure updates, and implementation of new or revised operating requirements.
- Manage the client’s compliance evidence, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability to NERC GOP standards
- Oversee training, qualification, and competency programs for personnel performing generator operator duties.
- Conduct internal audits, spot checks, and performance assessments across all GOP-related activities, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions.
- Support integration of new generating assets into the GOP program, including onboarding, documentation development, coordination with BAs/TOPs, and establishing operating protocols.
- Prepare the client for audits and compliance engagements, including data requests, self‑certifications, mitigation activities, and Regional outreach.
- Maintain strong situational awareness of reliability risks, operational issues, and changes to NERC standards, regional guidance, and BA/TOP operating requirements.
- Lead the continuous improvement of GOP workflows, including digital evidence processes, monitoring tools, operator communication practices, and event-reporting procedures.
Required Qualification & Education
- BA/BS degree in engineering, or related field; or 4+ years of experience in NERC compliance, grid operations, or generator operations.
- Strong knowledge of NERC GOP Reliability Standards and applicable standards.
- Experience working with BAs, TOPs, RCs, or NERC Regional Entities.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of grid operations, generation dispatch, and reliability communications.
- Ability to interpret and implement NERC standards and operating requirements.
- Excellent documentation and evidence‑management skills.
- Ability to analyze operational data and compliance performance.
- Strong communication skills for client‑facing and external stakeholder coordination.
Required Software Knowledge
- Expertise in MS Office MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe PDF toolsets
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing or supporting NERC Generator Operator Programs.
- Previous work with control center operations, grid operations, or energy facility operations.
- Familiarity with BA/TOP/RC operating protocols, telemetry requirements, outage coordination, and real time communication standards.
- Experience with compliance audits, self certifications, and evidence management.
- Experience with renewable energy portfolios, hybrid systems, storage assets, or distributed generation preferred.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Experience with tools such as SharePoint, Trello, or other workflow systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA/EMS systems or operational data platforms.
- Ability to lead training and operational readiness programs.
- Coaching / leadership skills

This position is fully remote and may be based anywhere in the United States.
The target hiring range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, education, and other relevant factors. This range is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute a guarantee of any specific salary.
