The Sales Capabilities Manager is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs that enhance the knowledge, skills, and performance of field sales representatives and sales managers within the pharma/biotech, and dermatology business units. This role partners closely with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Compliance to ensure training initiatives are strategically aligned, scientifically accurate, and fully compliant with all industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Training Program Development & Delivery
- Design and facilitate new hire, advanced, and ongoing sales training programs for field representatives and district managers.
- Leverage adult learning principles and innovative instructional methods to create impactful in-person, virtual, and blended learning solutions.
- Develop content for product launches, national plan of action meeting, ongoing disease state education, and competitive differentiation.
- Develop and lead Virtual and instructor led training (VILT/ILT) in multiple digital platforms.
Field Support & Coaching
- Conduct field visits to observe, coach, and provide actionable feedback to sales representatives.
- Partner with sales leadership to identify performance gaps and deliver targeted training interventions.
- Coach and prepare Trainers and/or Regional Sales Managers that assist during training classes.
- Assist with the development of Senior Account Managers and Account Managers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Marketing to translate brand strategy into field-ready training content.
- Work with Medical Affairs and Regulatory to ensure all training materials meet scientific accuracy and compliance requirements.
- Support alignment of sales training with Market Access and patient support services.
- Work with external vendors to identify and implement new technologies within the training environment.
Program Evaluation & Reporting
- Measure training effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., field performance metrics, assessments, and feedback surveys).
- Track KPIs to inform continuous improvement and demonstrate business impact.
- Create, manage, and assign learning curriculum in the LMS environment
Skills and Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Education, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years in pharmaceutical, biotech, or dermatology sales.
- Minimum 1–3 years of sales training, learning & development, or field trainer experience.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Excellent communication: verbal, written and oral
- Excellent presentation skills
- Must be proficient in MS Office including PowerPoint as well as latest technological advances in training equipment, software, and materials
- Must be able to travel (~20—40%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or advanced certifications (e.g., LTEN, ATD).
- Experience supporting product launches and brand training.
- Familiarity with dermatology therapeutic areas and biologic product categories.
- CRM knowledge (Veeva, Salesforce).
- Comprehension of adult learning principles and methods, as well as social persuasion techniques
- Experience in the design and execution of training and leadership programs
About the Compensation
The base salary range for this role is determined based on several factors. These include but are not limited to job accountabilities; skill sets; experience and training; certifications; work location; competitive market rates and other business needs. At Galderma, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a unique combination of factors for each role. A reasonable estimate of the hiring range for this role is $115,000 - $145,000.
In addition to base salary, we provide an opportunity to participate in an annual short-term incentive program that is based on corporate performance with a multiplier focused on individual performance.
