About the Team
The Search Engineering team builds the core infrastructure and services behind Lucidworks’ search and personalization platform. The team develops tools that scale Fusion in the cloud, automate deployment and failure recovery, improve service efficiency, and simplify how internal teams interact with customer environments.

About the Role
As the Manager of the Search Engineering team, you will lead and support a globally distributed group of engineers responsible for delivering high-quality, customer-focused features. You’ll balance people leadership with technical stewardship: coaching engineers, fostering collaboration across time zones, and setting clear expectations while partnering closely with the team to design, build, and evolve reliable, scalable solutions that meet customer needs.

This role reports to the Senior Manager of Search Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance and strategic direction
  • Drive innovation and automation in Search engineering to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products to customers
  • Work closely with Product team to coordinate and prioritize work including project management (Agile/Scrum)
  • Partner with Leadership and Product Operations to determine feature scope, project milestones, and achievable deadlines within our release cycle.
  • Help the team understand the technical scope of requested work and how each task fits with project goals and priorities.
  • Understand obstacles to individual and overall team success and develop plans to remove them.
  • Contribute to and maintain technical processes, particularly in code repo management, test coverage metrics, and automated CI/CD and code quality gates.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in cloud engineering and search

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud software development, with expertise in GCP, Azure, and/or AWS
  • 0-3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing product-led, cloud-based software engineering teams
  • 7+ years experience directly developing applications throughout the software development lifecycle with focus in Java or other high level language.
  • Experience developing microservice-based applications.
  • Strong experience with containerization including Kubernetes
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale distributed systems across multiple cloud environments
  • Experience with SaaS infrastructure and deployment models
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in high-impact, fast-paced environments
  • Experience with Apache SOLR is a plus
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Acceptable background check
