We are looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our Account Management team. Account Management is a full stack team that owns the customer-facing self-service channels that customers depend on to manage their auth, identity, and security related state — operationally critical surfaces that directly affect customer experience, support efficiency, and fraud/risk outcomes. Working in tight partnership with our internal decisioning, checkout, risk, security, and analytics teams, this role requires a strong cross-functional leader that can effectively manage competing priorities while providing rigorous, end-to-end, technical stewardship.
What you’ll do
Lead and manage a team of engineering managers and software engineers, supporting their growth and performance through regular feedback, career development, and coaching
Create a long term technical roadmap that enables the team to keep up with our fast growing business
Establish OKRs and critical metrics to set the engineering team’s direction and measure its success
Remove roadblocks, manage team priorities, and maintain high team productivity and morale
Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and tools
Collaborate across teams in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risks and trade-offs are well understood and managed
Build relationships with people across engineering and other organizations for the design, implementation, roll-out and maintenance of projects
Own availability and performance of your team’s systems
Occasionally contribute to hands-on technical work when needed, such as architecture discussions or mentoring on complex technical issues
Build a strong engineering culture around innovation, accountability, empathy, and execution
Coach, develop, retain, and build individual growth plans for both engineering managers and individual contributors within the team
Drive hiring and onboarding efforts to grow a diverse, high-performing team
What we look for
Typically 6-8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years managing engineers (or equivalent leadership experience).
Experience delivering consumer-facing software and driving execution through ambiguity.
Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale with technologies like Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
Experience developing web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
Technical judgement to guide architecture and quality decisions, and to hold a high bar on engineering practices.
Hands-on technical leadership: Expectation to stay close to the code and architecture, including doing design/code reviews, pairing when useful, and contributing directly as needed to unblock delivery and maintain a high engineering bar.
Proven track record in stakeholder management, ownership, and successful delivery
Demonstrated ability to grow, lead, and support high-performing engineering teams
A humble, team-first leader who actively contributes to a strong team culture and invests in the development of peers
