Position Summary
Recurrent Energy is seeking a Manager, Technical Accounting to join its Global Finance team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Technical Accounting.
This individual contributor role will be primarily responsible for U.S. GAAP technical accounting research and analysis, while also providing accounting and financial reporting support to the North America region. The Manager will work closely with teams across Finance, Tax, Legal, Project Finance, FP&A, and regional controllership to evaluate complex transactions and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting
  • Lead U.S. GAAP technical accounting research on complex matters related to the renewable energy business.
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive technical accounting memos with well-supported conclusions and audit-defensible rationale.
  • Interpret U.S. GAAP guidance and determine the appropriate accounting and reporting treatment for new, material, or unusual transactions.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in response to evolving business needs and changes in accounting standards.
  • Provide technical accounting support during monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, particularly in areas involving significant judgments and estimates.
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource to finance and accounting teams across the organization.
Regional Accounting & Reporting Support
  • Partner with the North America controllership team to support project-level financial statement preparation and audits.
  • Assist with the annual close process for North America project-level SPVs.
  • Provide hands-on accounting and reporting support as needed.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Collaborate with Project Finance, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and other functional teams to assess the accounting implications of new transactions and initiatives prior to execution.
  • Support accounting-related due diligence requests.
  • Partner with FP&A to incorporate current business models and assumptions into accounting analyses and financial reporting.
  • Work directly with external auditors and advisors on technical accounting matters.
Training & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop technical accounting training materials for the broader Finance organization and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Promote technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement within the technical accounting function.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, policies, and controls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in technical accounting and/or financial reporting.
  • U.S. or Canadian CPA designation required.
  • Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience within the energy, renewable energy, infrastructure, or construction industries preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated ability to research and interpret complex accounting guidance.
  • Strong technical accounting writing skills, including experience preparing formal accounting position papers and memos.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and SAP preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
