Role Overview:

Could you be our next Abandoned Benefits Compliance Manager? Globe Life is looking for an experienced Abandoned Benefits Compliance Manager with a background in life insurance or financial services unclaimed property compliance to join the team!
This role is responsible for coordination of all facets of the life and annuity unclaimed property team within the Legal Department. This role includes performing the tasks necessary for compliance with State statutes regarding the Unclaimed Property Act, including Social Security Administration Death Master File matching, outreach requirements, continuous monitoring of matching policies, and escheat regulations. This job will also require coordination with other departments, including Regulatory, Accounting, Internal Audit, Data & Analytics and Claims. The role will communicate with external resources on a regular basis, including auditors and outside counsel.
This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).
What You Will Do:

  • Coordinate with internal departments including Regulatory, Data & Analytics, Internal Audit, Claims, Accounting, and Actuary, as well as external vendors and legal counsel.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency with Company databases across multiple subsidiaries, SQL policy searches within the Unclaimed Property Database, including state-mandated Lost Policy Searches.
  • Assess and analyze match files returned from third party vendor.
  • Continuously monitor policies to determine whether there has been a change in the policy status.
  • Perform mandatory outreach on policy matches, monitor to determine if new outreach addresses should be obtained.
  • Coordinate with Unclaimed Property Accounting to ensure properties are escheated per the statutory requirements.
  • Work with Audit Firms to gather and provide required policy information for specified audit period.
  • Monitor, track and adhere to all state-mandated search and reporting deadlines.
  • Manage full-time employees and contractors.
  • Collaborate with Data & Analytics Department to develop automated processes and reduce manual processes.

What You Can Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Management experience.
  • Prior work experience in unclaimed property compliance, preferably within a life insurance or annuity environment.
  • Familiarity with life insurance or annuity policy administration, including policy status monitoring and state escheat reporting requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills and Excel with a demonstrable ability to work with large data sets across policy or financial databases and multiple formats and software tools.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of the software used in the Legal Department including, but not limited to LetterWriter, Accurint, Workday, Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Access, Excel), and internet searches.
  • Working knowledge of Unclaimed Property statutes and regulatory requirements.
  • Data analytic skills.
  • Ability to read and write and monitor for any issues/changes.
  • Ability to understand complex data sets.
  • Soft skills including maintaining discretion and confidentiality, decision-making, exercising sound judgment, successful interpersonal communications via phone, chat, email, etc., and effective time-management to meet deadlines.
