Since our founding in 1986, we have graded and authenticated millions of items. We employ more than 3000 people across our headquarters in Santa Ana, California and offices in New Jersey, Texas, Florida, Japan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and France.


As part of our interview process, we request that candidates have their cameras on during video interviews. This helps foster meaningful conversation and allows us to create an experience that closely resembles our standard working environment. Certain interview steps may take place by phone. For remote roles, and at our discretion, candidates may be asked to participate in an on-site interview as part of the final stages of the process.

We’re looking for graders to join our team to authenticate and grade manga. Ideal candidates will possess knowledge of manga, anime, Japanese literature and culture, collectibles, understand authentication, research and grading standards, and be able to add depth to Manga Grading Team. Individuals should be detail oriented, have good organization skills, be able to focus over long periods of time, and be able to work in a positive team environment. Preferred applicants will have one to three years of experience as a professional, dealer or collector.

You’ll report to the Director of Manga and work from our Plano office.

Onsite Requirement: This role requires you to be onsite in the office 5 days per week.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as an expert of manga authentication and grading standards

  • Serve as an expert in processing procedures and protocols

  • Research and detail information for manga label using our team standards

  • Authenticate and evaluate the condition manga in an expedient manner but without compromising accuracy

  • Maintain individual daily grading production goals

  • Improve knowledge and skill with active personal research and experience

  • Stay up-to-date with current industry developments and news, especially as it pertains to new counterfeits and alteration methods circulating the market

  • Maintain quality of grading product

  • Engage with and participate in monthly meetings and re-training sessions as needed to help further develop skills and enhance hobby knowledge

Who You Are:

  • Firsthand knowledge of manga, anime, Japanese literature & culture and related collectibles

  • Expert in identification of counterfeits

  • Understanding and comprehension of the grading system and standards

  • Exhibit strong research skills

  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities

  • Strong organization skills to achieve production goals and maximize productivity

  • Ability to work in a positive team environment

  • Detail oriented and ability to focus over long stretches of time

  • Thrives in a high-paced environment

  • 1 - 3 years of experience as a professional, dealer or collector

Physical Requirements:

  • Computer Use: Typing, mouse work, and sitting and looking at a computer potentially for long periods of time

  • Hand Use: Regular hand use for various tasks

  • Hearing Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, signals, and verbal instructions

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to routinely lift, carry, and move materials up to 40 pounds

  • Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods of time

  • Vision: Using vision aiding devices, as well as sitting in lit rooms with additional desk lighting
