Position Purpose:
This role is a temporary, non-exempt position at the Intern level, responsible for supporting the Market Operations team in optimizing performance and revenue through the dispatch of KCE’s battery fleet. The intern will work closely with MO analysts and other KCE teams to analyze market data, build pricing models and present findings. The role offers hands on exposure to electricity markets and the fundamental drivers that set prices.
Key Responsibilities:
Study market trends and build reports in Power BI to support battery operations in ERCOT and NYISO
Analyze and manipulate datasets in MS SQL Server, including price forecasts for feeding into optimization models
Build a fundamental understanding of daily energy market operations in various jurisdictions
Complete analysis using Claude and Claude Code and MS CoPilot AI tools
Other analytical tasks in support of the market operations department, such as ad hoc analyses
All other duties as required
Work Experience & Requirements:
Pursuing a degree in engineering, math, computer science or related field
Experience in Python, SQL and AI tools
Interest in clean energy and power markets
Experience with large data sets is a plus
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
