Overview

The company and the role

  • Rimkus is a global Forensics consulting firm with over 1,200 professionals across three Business Groups: Forensics, Built Environment Solutions, and Life Sciences. Our Forensics Business Group is the largest: a multifaceted team of engineers, scientists, and technical specialists who investigate property losses, construction defects, equipment failures, and environmental claims for insurance carriers, law firms, and corporate clients.
  • We are looking for a Marketing Director who will assess the market opportunity, our capabilities, and the competitive threats – then set the strategic direction and drive execution; someone who would elevate the Forensics marketing function from mostly reactive to proactive, from being a dependable partner quick to respond to requests from the field, to a team that drives the narrative in the market.
  • The supporting functional marketing pillars are strong: we have a proven Events and Webinars motion, a Continuing Education program that our clients and prospects love, a strong AI-powered lead generation capability, a responsive Creative & Design center of excellence, and an innovative digital marketing function.
  • You will serve as the senior Marketing Business Partner to the Forensics business group leadership team, shaping priorities, and ensuring marketing investment is tightly aligned to business growth goals. You will also collaborate closely with the VP of National Accounts (who leads white-glove management and growth of our largest clients) and the VP of Business Development – Forensics, covering the broader market of insurance carriers, law firms, risk managers and other accounts.
  • This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer. We are open to candidates from non-traditional marketing backgrounds — see Desired Qualifications for more on this.

The ideal candidate

  • You bring subject-matter expertise in Forensic Engineering, technical consulting, or related professional services. You don’t need someone to explain what a reservation of rights letter is, why an adjuster’s timeline matters, or how a forensic engineer’s expertise in testimony and depositions can elevate their profile – you already know.
  • You understand that marketing Forensics expert services is fundamentally about trust and credibility, that the path to winning work runs through thought leadership, expert visibility, and being the firm that our clients think of first when a loss hits their desk.
  • You’ve designed and built marketing strategies for technical professional services firms. You can pressure-test assumptions, translate strategy into a clear marketing plan, and hold yourself accountable to pipeline and revenue outcomes — not just activity metrics.
  • You're a leader who invests in your people. You build high-performing teams by setting clear expectations, giving honest feedback, and creating real growth opportunities. You see developing your team members as core to the role, not a side responsibility.
  • You’re as comfortable presenting a go-to-market strategy to senior company leaders as you are reviewing ad copy for a property-loss campaign or workshopping an expert’s conference abstract. You move between strategic and tactical naturally.
  • That said, if you come from the Forensics Engineering side of the house, with hands-on technical experience, team leadership, and client-facing responsibility, if you've always been the person who sees the market opportunity that others miss, we want to hear from you. Your subject-matter expertise may be exactly the foundation this role needs!

Three Key Areas of Responsibility

Forensics Marketing Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Define and own the Forensics Business Group marketing strategy, aligned to revenue growth, pipeline targets, and strategic priorities across service lines (e.g., fire & explosion, transportation, infrastructure...)
  • Serve as the senior marketing thought partner to Forensics leadership, translating business objectives into clear marketing priorities and plans.
  • Establish annual and quarterly marketing objectives, success metrics, and investment plans tied directly to business outcomes. Shift the function from reactive field support to proactive market leadership.

Market & Buyer Expertise / Messaging Leadership

  • Develop proactive, innovative content marketing campaigns that improve our brand visibility – as well as the visibility of individual experts.
  • Lead the development of Ideal Client Profile (ICP) -specific positioning, messaging, and value propositions in line with how our clients and prospects evaluate and select forensic experts: grounded in credibility, specialization, responsiveness, geographic reach and testimony / deposition training & expertise.
  • Identify and articulate our key differentiators. Ensure all Forensics marketing reflects technical credibility and differentiation, working closely with subject matter experts to translate deep technical knowledge into compelling, client-facing content.

Demand Generation & Cross-Functional Execution

  • Own Forensics demand generation strategy across inbound and outbound motions. Partner with functional marketing teams and the Creative & Design Center of Excellence to activate campaigns across web, paid media, email, social, and live/virtual events.
  • Drive a culture of measurement and accountability across Forensics marketing — ensuring that marketing activities are tied to pipeline outcomes and that the team can clearly articulate what’s working, what isn’t, and where to focus next.

Desired Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: what matters most is that you understand the buyers, the services, and the competitive landscape and have passion for telling a compelling story:
  • Either 7–12 years of hands-on experience marketing Forensic Engineering, consulting, or closely related technical/professional services (e.g., environmental consulting, construction consulting, insurance services)
  • Or, alternatively, hands-on Forensics experience, including team leadership and client-facing responsibility – combined with an interest in marketing
  • Buyer & Market Acumen: Deep familiarity with the insurance carrier and law firm buyer ecosystem. You understand how claims organizations, coverage teams, and defense counsel evaluate and retain forensic experts.
  • Data & Performance Orientation: Experience defining KPIs, building dashboards, and making data-informed decisions about where to invest and where to cut.
  • Executive Communication: Proven ability to partner with senior business leaders as a strategic equal — not just a marketing services provider. Comfortable presenting strategy, defending investment decisions, and influencing priorities.
  • Team Leadership: Track record of building, mentoring, and developing marketing teams. You take personal accountability for your team members' growth and create an environment where people want to bring their best selves to work.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience influencing outcomes in matrixed organizations where you set direction but rely on functional teams for execution

Impact of the role

  • The market doesn’t always fully appreciate our breadth – that’s our opportunity. The Marketing Director, Forensics will directly accelerate pipeline and revenue growth, sharpen how carriers and counsel perceive Rimkus, and unlock cross-sell opportunities across our full portfolio of services. As the senior marketing voice at the Forensics leadership table, you won’t just support the business – you’ll help define its future.
  • If you’re excited about putting Marketing in the driver’s seat at a firm with strong foundations and real momentum – this is that role.

At Rimkus, we value a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and respected. We are committed to creating a work environment that supports and celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences of all employees. If you share our commitment to diversity and inclusivity and are excited about joining a welcoming and supportive team, we encourage you to apply for our open positions.
