To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer located in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, validating, and implementing innovative and cost-effective product solutions of complex scope to support the organization in prototype development through full-scale production.
What a typical day looks like:
- Apply complex design practices and procedures to assigned program areas to create custom tooling, jigs and fixtures with standard processes such as CNC milling/turning and Additive Manufacturing
- Create and release detailed drawings and interface with machine shop for quote and completion
- Manage sourcing and deliveries from suppliers for fabrication of tools/fixtures and equipment
- Work with other members of the development team to support manufacturing tooling design initiatives
- Assist in generating production and technology roadmaps that support customer expectations
- Support design improvements that enhance manufacturability and assembly while minimizing costs
- Provide complex technical support to manufacturing floor to enhance manufacturability and assembly while minimizing costs
- Perform Tolerance Analysis and make recommendations
- Project Management on multiple customer accounts.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team,
- 5+ years of 3D CAD Experience (Solidworks CSWP preferred)
- Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, high energy and strong time management skills
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others
- Demonstrated leadership skills and team orientation
- Drawing creation and release experience
- Please submit "Hands On" Design Project Examples or portfolio
- 3D Printing Experience
- Manual or CNC Milling/Lathe Experience
- Introductory Understanding of GD&T / Dimensional Management
