We are in search of an exceptional Microsoft SQL Specialist with 6+ years of experience and who has the attitude and aptitude to take his/her career to the next level. This is a virtual/remote position to join our growing team.

In this role you will operate within the Platform Engineering team, focusing on the performance, optimization, and modernization of SQL environments across infrastructure and application layers. The role supports cloud transformation initiatives, particularly SQL workloads migrating to Azure and ongoing Azure SQL operations. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal engineering teams to ensure database performance, cost efficiency, and operational reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze SQL Server environments to identify performance issues and implement query and database tuning improvements.
  • Design and execute SQL workload migrations from on-premises or legacy platforms to Azure SQL services.
  • Implement and optimize Azure SQL deployments, including configuration, scaling, and monitoring.
  • Drive SQL cost optimization initiatives by analyzing usage patterns and recommending right-sizing or resource adjustments.
  • Optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures to improve application performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure SQL environments align with system architecture and operational requirements.
  • Support DevOps practices for database lifecycle management, including integration with CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
  • Deliver technical guidance to clients and internal stakeholders on SQL best practices, cloud adoption, and performance strategies.

Working hours: office hours Monday to Friday (8AM-5PM CST).

You must be able to work from home, have a quiet workspace, and have a computer and headset in good working order.

Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments.
  • Advanced English Level
  • Proven expertise in Azure SQL offerings (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance) and cloud-based database deployments.
  • Demonstrated experience in SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and cost optimization strategies.
  • Hands-on experience executing SQL migrations to Azure, including assessment, planning, and execution.
  • Relevant Microsoft SQL or Azure certification (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent).

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
  • Strong scripting capabilities (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL automation).
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned processes and service management frameworks.
  • ITIL certification (Foundation or higher).
  • Additional SQL or Azure certifications.
