Raw Materials

Raw Materials is an unusual design company. We were founded to bring much-needed unusual and creative thinking to the world of digital products and brand design.

In a world where everything is beginning to feel and behave the same, our mission is to make the different.

We are seeking non-conformists, artists, perfectionists, and the craft obsessed. The ones who believe they can do better. We want to find the best talent in the world and give them a home. A place that will help them make the best work of their lives. And we want to surround them with others who are just as passionate about the quality of their work as they are.

To make the different we need the different.

Motion Designer

In a world mediated by screens, static designs are unfit and boring. Everything we design should move, behave, respond, and feel alive. The world of the screen should not feel different from the material world.

This is why we love Motion Designers. From the extraordinary to the succinct, they can give life, personality, and life-like behaviors to design work.

Motion designers can explain functionalities and convey emotions and tell stories through movement and the manipulation of time.

Motion designers work as part of our interdisciplinary design team and play a core role in helping craft interfaces, brands, products, and stories. As happy giving life to a button as they are storyboarding a short film, motion designers often pave the way from boring, predictable work to delightful captivating experiences.

Here are some examples of things we expect motion designers to be able to do/have.

A playful mind

→ An understanding of traditional and novel motion disciplines and techniques.

→ The ability to comprehend complex topics and distill them down into simple, elegant solutions that make them easy to grasp and understand.

→ A love of bringing interfaces to life and a passion for interactive motion work.

→ The ability to work in 2 or 3 dimensions.

→ Being an advocate for motion where motion is overlooked.

→ Passion for forward-thinking technologies and their influence in the world moving pixels.

→ An appreciation for different cultures and disciplines and an innate curiosity about everything.

→ The love for bringing a brand or product's personality to life via movement.

→ The ability to bring folks along with your way of thinking, both clients and colleagues.

→ The ability to think both systematically and poetically. Comfort dabbling in both imagination and logic.

Nothing beats a conversation and a look over some work if this is you, if you are intrigued if you want to know more, if you want to make different work and work with people trying to push themselves to do the best of their lives. Call us. We want to work with you.

To make the different, we need the different.

Love,

Raw Materials.
