Position: MRA Coding & Documentation Educator Lead 

The MRA Coding & Documentation Educator Lead is responsible for driving enterprise-wide education strategy, audit oversight, and provider engagement related to risk adjustment coding and documentation. This role partners closely with POD leadership, clinical teams, and organizational leadership to improve documentation accuracy, ensure compliance, and optimize risk adjustment performance.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule and lead meetings with POD leadership to review audit results and provide guidance on accurate diagnosis documentation
  • Create disease-specific coding and documentation materials including presentations, handouts, and POD education series
  • Manage open encounters and partner with APPs and MDs to support timely note closure
  • Deliver New Employee Orientation (NEO) MRA education, pre- and post-training sessions, and Grand Rounds presentations
  • Assist POD MDs with gap list reviews and documentation opportunities
  • Provide timely correspondence to providers regarding clinical documentation opportunities and queries
  • Identify trends through data analysis and chart review; evaluate existing policies and develop new policies with recommendations to improve outcomes
  • Partner closely with Clinical Coaches to design and deliver education based on clinical and coding audit findings
  • Maintain audit tracking systems and report key metrics, trends, and findings to leadership
  • Serve as subject matter expert on risk adjustment documentation and coding practices across the organization
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to coding educators and clinical partners

 Position Requirements 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CPC or CRC Certification required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Medicare Risk Adjustment Education experience including three (3) years of Medicare Risk Adjustment experience
  • Demonstrated ability to present to small and large groups on coding and documentation topics
  • Knowledge of HCC models, risk adjustment, and compliant documentation of diagnosis and Category II codes
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory, documentation, and coding guidelines including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, E/M coding, auditing, and education
  • Familiarity with STARs performance measures and metrics
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including effective communication with physicians and senior leadership
  • Up to 70% travel required for onsite education, meetings, and presentations
