The Systems Administrator will manage Microsoft 365 services, support users, ensure compliance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain documentation. Responsibilities include user management and maintaining system security.
Alpha FMC's Insurance Tech Services Division is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Systems Administrator to support our clients' cloud environments as part of our custom software consulting practice.
This role is focused on day-to-day administration, user support, and maintaining a stable, secure environment. You will be responsible for ongoing operations, issue resolution, and ensuring systems continue to run smoothly as business needs evolve.
You’ll work closely with internal IT stakeholders and external partners to support users, maintain configurations, and uphold security and compliance standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Administer and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune
- Manage users, groups, licenses, and access using Microsoft Entra ID , enforcing least-privilege RBAC across M365 and Azure subscriptions
- Handle onboarding and off-boarding of users, including access provisioning and deprovisioning
- Support and maintain conditional access policies and basic security configurations, along with Azure Policy compliance across client environments
- Respond to user issues, service requests, and escalations related to M365 tools
- Monitor tenant health and Azure resource health, troubleshooting issues and remediating Defender for Cloud & Azure Advisor findings
- Maintain and update documentation for processes, configurations, and standard procedures, including IaC templates (Terraform) for Landing Zone configurations
- Support ongoing compliance efforts, including retention policies and basic data governance using Microsoft Purview
- Manage key Vault secrets and certificate lifecycles in coordination with application teams
- Coordinate with external partners or consultants for escalated issues or changes
- Stay up to date on Microsoft 365 updates and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft 365 administration experience, along with the following: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) and Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert (MS-102)
- Strong working knowledge of Azure Active Directory / Entra ID, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Intune and Azure resource management including networking, governance,
and cost management - Experience with PowerShell scripting for M365 and Azure administration, automation, and IaC maintenance using Terraform
- Solid understanding of identity and access management principles, including RBAC across M365 and Azure subscriptions
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Ability to document processes clearly, including maintaining IaC templates and
configuration change logs - Strong communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical users
- Experience with PowerShell scripting for M365 administration and automation
Preferred
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300)
- Experience working in a consulting or managed services environment
- Familiarity with Intune for device management and CI/CD pipelines for IaC deployment
(Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) - Exposure to Defender XDR across M365 and Azure environments
- Experience working in a structured IT or public sector environment

- The Consultant may be allocated to different external clients as needed
- Pay Rate (hourly, W2) is: $50 - $65/hr USD
- Long-term opportunity to join a client is possible
- This is a a remote position, but infrequent travel (to client sites) may be required.
- Must be able to accommodate working hours of 8;30am - 5:30pm EST
